Yes, I know that I have been slacking in my weekly writings and I truly apologize for leaving everyone hanging in the air about my travels. The truth is that I've been re-adjusting to life in the U.S. where I can take a hot shower, drive a car, and use a microwave in my very own kitchen, all things that I took for granted before my Asia wanderings.
I flew home in September to greet fields of swaying golden cornstalks and country roads crowded with combines. My sister's wedding was to be a backyard affair, on the hill behind our white farmhouse. The entire family pitched in and spent a busy two weeks painting everything in sight, building new fences for our Arabians, and preparing two refrigerators full of food for the rehearsal dinner. Our house was a neverending circus of chatting relatives, lawn mowers, and a very excited, slobbering airdale. Things were certainly humming. Everything eventually fell into place and Carrey and Wes had a simply beautiful wedding overlooking the winding Sugar creek and glowing maple trees. Family from Kentucky and Australia came by the carload to enjoy themselves on the dance floor and drink plenty of Yellow Tail
wine - oh wait, that was me.......
My return flight was scheduled to leave in November, giving me just a month to visit friends all over the state and those a bit farther down the coast. Thanksgiving and Christmas are also right around the corner so I decided to delay my departure until after the holidays. There is nothing like being home for the snowy season and Frank Sinatra echoing through the house. However, I'm not back for the long run. My flight is leaving near the end of January where I will be wisked off to the land down under. After exploring Australia and, quite possibly, testing my bartending or waitressing skills, I'm going to spend a fabulous three months in New Zealand. Plans beyond those two pit-stops are unknown as well as unneeded. Mongolia? South America? Africa???? Places to go and people to see......will it ever end?
Hhhhmmmmmmm.........
In the meantime, I've added some especially fun pictures from various sites around Asia. Enjoy!
An afternoon in Laos. This is my favorite picture of the three of us. We spent the afternoon in a very unique park outside of the capital city. This was taken from a lookout point.
