Well, this morning we departed from our original game plan and instead of traveling through a familiar route in Oregon, we drive north on Idaho Hwy 95 through some spectacular but challenging country with Uncle Joe in tow.
I can’t remember the times we had to chug up mountains in “tow mode” at 30 mph with the flashers winking at traffic coming up on us from behind. Fortunately, there were passing lanes and pull outs to allow the faster vehicles to pass us.
Since we stopped so often, there are some vacation pictures to share with you.
Tonight we are staying at a Passport America campground near Grangeville, Idaho. This area is almost treeless and HOT. The PA discount rate for the night is less than $14, and the campground is nice, but this is not a forested area and did I say HOT? 96 degrees at one time when we went into town for groceries and fuel. Thank goodness the air conditioner in Uncle Joe works well.
You can see where we are camped tonight on Google Maps at:

Vear Den RV Resort We have limited cable television and “free” wifi. That means we know that there is a heat wave invading eastern Washington and bordering Idaho. It is uncommonly HOT!
Tomorry, we will search for place down the road that is forested and cooler. I’m researching that tonight. Stay tuned. More to come for this adventure.

Poor Nan has to listen to you complain about the heat !
Doesn't the heat make your old knees feel better ?
I bet you are happy about taking this wonderful trip.
I do love that picture 04 all the way back to the Mts.
Was that a sandy or a rocky beach on the right.
I've driven US 95 more times that I can count over the last forty years, and if you think the road is steep today, you should have tried it back when you drove through 22 switchbacks climbing White Bird Hill south of Grangeville. You're right about the heat though. There is a very nice campground east of Grangeville up the mountain and in the trees, but it's rather primitive. I pitched my tent there a couple of years ago and had a fine time.
Enjoying your reports. Keep 'em coming.

Hi dear Friends,
Sounds like you're enjoying your trip with exception of some extremely hot days without shade. Hopefully the AC is keeping you cool.
All's well here. Terry and I returned from our little jaunt to Mt. Rainier. It was a gorgeous two days. The weather was just right. We hiked 5 miles each day. Once at Paradise and once at Longmire. The B & B was fun too. It was a great place to meet some very interesting travelers. The night skies really made the Milky Way very visible. How beautiful that was. We are rested up and already making plans to visit more National Parks.
The weather here is really mild and nice. Just what you both like. Hope Shaddy is doing OK after his unhappy stay as the Guard Dog.
Miss you lots,
Pat
