aloha! well after a five hour delayed flight out of Vancouver, jess and I finally made it to Hawaii at 3:30 local time. Tsunami and jen, the wonderful people they are met us at the airport with traditional hawaiian lays that Jen and tsunami's little sister Johanna had made that day. Tsunami's family are all such warm generous people. We have been blessed to have survived and enjoyed our marriage since 1987. In June 2005, we had an opportunity to have an anniversary in a tropical island. Oahu Hawaii. Excellent. The other day in the other year my friend asked me where we should go away for a week in the summer. I said: "I dunno!" Then I phoned her in an hour and told her to pack up her stuff because we are going to Hawaii. I am from Europe and Hawaii seems such a dream for me so we got very excited!! 31/05/05: Picture downhill skiing and then 1 hour later basking in the tropical Hawaiian sun. Many people don’t know this but Hawaii gives you the opportunity to do this. Situated a short plane ride south of Oahu, Big Island doesn’t attract the large crowds of its smaller neighbouring islands. 90% of the visitors to Hawaii stay on the island of Oahu and half of those stay at or near Waikiki. these are pics from hawaii. my very patient friend rachel was kind enough to take me in for 2 weeks and put up with me, my bags, and my ailments! it was fun to hang out with her the last couple of days on the big island though. we saw lava and black sand and marathoners and lots of fish! it was a most brilliant way to end this trip. more thoughts to come after japan ;) [View Full Entry]
