aloha! well after a five hour delayed flight out of Vancouver, jess and I finally made it to Hawaii at 3:30 local time. Tsunami and jen, the wonderful people they are met us at the airport with traditional hawaiian lays that Jen and tsunami's little sister Johanna had made that day. Tsunami's family are all such warm generous people. They have made us feel so at home and are truely giving us the all round Hawaiian experience. yesterday we visited Wikiki beach and tried some boogie bording and sand sliding which was so fun. Today we took a drive to the [View Full Entry]

We have been blessed to have survived and enjoyed our marriage since 1987. In June 2005, we had an opportunity to have an anniversary in a tropical island. Oahu Hawaii. Excellent. I told my wife we better enjoy traveling while we can still walk. While we still have our health. Thank you Lord for giving us this fantastic adventure. Five days in Oahu. Not a long time but we did what we can. After getting our luggage, we proceeded to get our rental van. Got a map of the island. Proceeded to our hotel at Waikiki. No problem. The flight [View Full Entry]

Hawaii, baby! North America » United States » Hawaii » Oahu » Waikiki
The other day in the other year my friend asked me where we should go away for a week in the summer. I said: "I dunno!" Then I phoned her in an hour and told her to pack up her stuff because we are going to Hawaii. I am from Europe and Hawaii seems such a dream for me so we got very excited!! We stayed in a hotel in Waikiki and we did the same things that people do in Hawaii. I am not going into details now! :) The photos were taken at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Oahu. flying was long, especially on sleep deprivation. but i met this rad couple in their 40's from tucson on the plane and they're going to steal me away one of these days and we're going to go have some adventures - hiking and meditating. i had told them that i was not a person that could just relax for more than a few days, but that i was sure that was what my family was after, and they were very sympathetic. on arrival, we went to a farmer's market and bought bundles of vegetables and beautiful flowers. oh, armloads of flowers, [View Full Entry]

31/05/05: Picture downhill skiing and then 1 hour later basking in the tropical Hawaiian sun. Many people don’t know this but Hawaii gives you the opportunity to do this. Coming from someone that hasn’t even seen snow before, let alone been skiing, I thought that it was best not to indulge in this escapade. Besides, I think snowfall in summer is minimal on the mountain summits. You can, however, experience natures power on the opposite temperature spectrum and stand next to a river of 1150 deg C molten lava. This can be done all year round but the unusual, although very [View Full Entry]

Situated a short plane ride south of Oahu, Big Island doesn’t attract the large crowds of its smaller neighbouring islands. 90% of the visitors to Hawaii stay on the island of Oahu and half of those stay at or near Waikiki. Big Island is famous for two things; 1. Captain Cook was killed on this island in 1779 in a town on the West Coast now known as 'Captain Cook' - very original name. Australians have somewhat immortalised Captain Cook and consider him to be the greatest explorer of his time. The Hawaiians do not glorify Cook or the influence the [View Full Entry]

Aloha everyone! I hope that things are going well for you all. I am thinking of you all.....well...sometimes anyway. Just going to share a few things that I have been doing - I am not going to put every little detail or day down because that wont make you want to come and visit the places, it will just bore you! 24/05/05: On the day that I left for Hawaii someone asked me in the afternoon at what time I would arrive in Hawaii. I thought for a moment and found it very unusual saying "This morning". The 9 hr flight [View Full Entry]

UntitledI’ve always been an independent traveler. By myself in a foreign land, the experience is mine and mine alone, I’m able to tune in and experience what Lawrence Durrell described as “that mysterious sense of rapport, of identity with the ground.” Solo travel has a way of luring one into the most unlikely friendships; it invites the unexpected, it provokes serendipity. It also affords unparalleled flexibility -- traveling alone, one is free to change plans at a moment’s notice, or to have no plans at all. One is free to [View Full Entry]
