It looks like an ocean of clouds!
We're about 10,000 feet, at an observation point, (on Mauna Kea) and when we came down the mountain, this is what awaited us! (And yes, it was cold up there!)
(Dickinson, ND)
A quick note, and then we’re going to take another look at Hawaii…
Our bathroom in the condo was long and narrow, with two sinks. One evening I went in there and found a huge (I think it was about the size of a dump truck, but Bob said it was more like 3”) cockroach hanging out under the toe kick under the vanity. I screamed, Bob came running, and then we discussed how to kill a hard-shelled cockroach…I thought we should shoot him, but that was vetoed. Bob~~ with no shoes on, and no desire to crush him anyway~~ decided to trap him with the trash can~~that was nearly full!~~ so after jerking the bag out, we realized he (cockroach) was tucked under the cabinet where the can wouldn’t reach. Bob asked for a stick (where are we? They don’t have trees with sticks here! But I could get you a coconut to throw at him!) I handed him my emery board, and Bob tried to shoo him into the garbage can. Cockroaches run really fast. And they don’t care much for garbage cans or emery boards…at least this one didn’t! He ran, still under
This one is kind of spooky,
because it looked like it was coming up to engulf us! It was the kind of stuff horror films are made of! the overhang of the counter, toward ME. Bob, my Knight in Shining Armor, realized he couldn’t trap cockroach (and was probably tired of hearing me scream) so he kind of kicked the trash can at the bug. Big Bug. I’m standing at the end of the bathroom with the cockroach running at me, being chased by the trash can! By that time I was laughing so hard I couldn’t catch my breath!! The cockroach headed along the wall, looking to get under the bed, and we never saw him again! I choose to believe: 1.) he was not trying to eat my feet off, and 2.) he found a way outdoors (which would have to be through an open door) and was eaten by a feral cat!
And the state puts up signs warning of the donkeys???? What about a warning for the gigantic cockroaches?
Ok, enjoy the pictures...

Hi You Two, We really loved the big island - both sides. Enjoy your time there. I am in complete agreement about the inclusion of plumeria in heaven!! I love the smell. And don't get me started on cockroach stories after our year in Venezuela! Maybe I will share when you have left the heavenly islands for more tame shores. Maybe they need some of Bob's signs in Washington, D.C. May God continue to bless your time there and preparation for your new tours.
