The final day in Miami started off a little late. We slept in because nobody had set the alarm. We were due to leave Miami at 8am as we decided to change plans to leave Miami early for New Orleans.
It was really sunny for the whole day and it was nearly as hot as the first we arrive in Miami, so it was a shame to be spending it in the car
At around 10am we left the hotel and headed off South Beach – the area where we spent all of our time – and drove around downtown Miami. I was still tired from the night before and so slept in the car for most of the driving. Although, I did catch a few sites and skyscrapers but didn't see anything especially more exciting than we had seen previously in cities other than that the layout of the city was more suited to the tropical climate.
We drove outside of Miami and after driving for a few hours, we decided to stop off for lunch at the all you can eat buffet at the casino we stopped off in on the way to Miami. We had to turn
round to get there are drove for about 15 miles, before realising the deal they offered before was not still being offered. We had to drive to the nearest supermarket to pick up some food supplies. We drove for a few more hours and just after we passed Orlando, the car gave us a warning signal that it needed its oil changed.
We decided to call the car company to ask them what to do as we didn't want to break any contract clauses by changing the oil ourselves and possibly causing further problems to the car.
The car company told us to turn around and drive to Orlando International Airport to exchange the car.
We called back to explain that the car had damage and that it was very dirty and not full on fuel.
We were allowed to exchange the dirty broken car anyway and were allowed to choose a brand new car. It was a hassle unpacking and packing up another car but it was worth it for a new clean car.
After packing up the car and as we were ready to leave, the new car started giving us the same warning signals the old car
gave us. The woman told us we had to leave the car as there was a risk the car may stop and give up on us.
After speaking the woman and explaining we had checked the cars and some of the other cars they offered had similar problems, the woman offered us a car that was being held for a VIP and was low on mileage and nearly brand new.
She handed us the keys and we once again unpacked the older car and packed up the new car.
It was really clean and nice, although within a day we had the car covered in crumbs and Miami beach sand!
We drove in our new Florida plated car and once again began our drive to New Orleans. All the stopping and turning around meant it was 7pm before we left Orlando and we were way off schedule.
We drove for hours in Florida and it was around 2.30am before we got out of Florida – I had no idea that Florida was such a long state!
We even crossed into Central Time Zone whilst still in Florida.
I fell asleep as Ace continued to drive on.
