I'm at home in Melbourne right now, typing on the Mac that currently resides in my childhood bedroom. It's great but strange, much like the feelings I'm having about leaving.

I left Chicago 3 days ago, and in less than 48 hours, I will be on my way to Guatemala City for a 10-week trek through Central America. The plan is to go to Quetzaltenango to take some Spanish classes and volunteer for this non-profit group called Entremundos, and then travel throughout the region. I'll go wherever the road takes me, eventually making it down to Panama to fly back on 5/6/05.

Of course, I will miss my family, friends and Ryan, and I admit that I'm a little nervous about traveling by myself. Mostly though, I am can't-sleep-at-night excited, and I need to finish packing!! So, that's all for now. The next time I write I'll be in Guatemala... Adios Amigos!!!

Much Love,
Brooke
