So. A little hiatus in my travels since I last wrote. For those who don’t know, I paused in Maryland for a few good reasons: to build on my relationship with extended family, work for a bit in Outdoor Adventure at a small University, and most importantly…to meet an incredible new partner. I now find myself back on the road, with Matt, and a similar focus as I had this previous fall - A new place to call home. (I recognize this is a small amount of information to explain the last 5 months. For those that would like more detail feel free to ask.) But I write now to continue the story of my travels. Alongside Matt, we travel to search for a new home and work, but also to see our great country and ... read more

Convention Time! We went to check out the convention centre in West Palm Beach on Thursday to make sure of the times and so on. Yay, smiley friendly faces! They can’t believe that we are all the way from Africa and so the chatterings begin.. The hall used to be a rundown basketball court known as the ‘leaky tepee’, and in 2001 J.W bought it and fixed it up. Once they saw it in its new revamped state they wanted it back and hoped that we would have concerts and basketball games in it..well, they lost out and there will be none of that in there! CONVENTION Friday morning we arrived early, got our seats and the first day flew by! The Program was wonderful with some nice surprises..(I won’t go into detail, wait till yours ... read more

FLORIDA – WEST PALM BEACH, PALM BEACH, KENNEDY SPACE CENTER NASA That Morning Brain brought us to the Amtrak station where we had some time to stroll along Bay shore Boulevard before we would board the train to West Palm beach. Rick and 2 friends of him picked us up from the station. It was good to see Rick again, I won't state here how long it has been but believe me it has been long :) But Rick hasn't changed a bit, in any way! Rick brought us to his house but unfortunately he had to go to work that night. So went to discover the neighborhood and would hopefully find the beach. But as everything in the US the place is bigger than we thought, we found water but the beach was on the ... read more

I survived it. A full day of drunken debauchery and I dont even have a hangover. I guess if I have learned anything over the years, its drink lots water while drinking lots of Rum. And Tequila. Yep. Daqs and Margs were the drinks of the day. The battery operated blender worked like a charm. Finding the arena was a breeze thanks to Tom the GPS. Parking was $20 and incredibly unorganized. But that worked in our favor since we had a huge gap on one side of us. We got there around noon after stopping at WalMart for supplies. Which included a throw away grill to cook Bubba burgers on. Our beach umbrella kept the sun off of us for most of the day. But I knew as it dropped we would have no shade. ... read more

It never seems to right to wake up before 10 in the morning when I am sleeping in a hotel room. But here I am. Been up since 9 for no reason what so ever. So I guess I'll record last nights exploits for posterity. We took off out of the hotel heading over towards the beach and where I thought Buffets house was. But Google earth screwed me on the address. But it wasn't a total waste of a trip since we were at the beach. Parking along the beach where we were was $1 an hour. That seems like a crazy price to pay anywhere. So we dropped 15 minutes worth of change and walked out on the beach while Bentleys and Ferraris cruised by us. Note to the guys: chicks on the beach ... read more

My wife is awesome. When she found out Jimmy Buffett was touring she bought us tickets to the West Palm Beach show. We left home this morning on another road trip to South Florida to see more than just a concert. If you didn't know it, his shows are more than just a concert. The preshow tailgating are just as much fun to see. So with the jeep loaded down with beach chairs, camping chairs, a folding table, 2 coolers, 3 different types of liquor, and a battery operated blender, we should be set. The drive, for the most part was eventful. I played Island songs until even I was tired of them. The drive was about 4 hours long. I probably averaged about 80 miles an hour. Some spots I was able to go 90. ... read more

Well, I was missing my animal friends from South Africa, so daddy decided to take me to Lion Country Safari. He had heard of it for a while, and being only 1 1/2 hours from where we live, after almost 5 years living in Miami now was the time. I had loved going on safari a little over 2 months ago in South Africa, so I thought this sounded cool. We also invited my good friend and neighbor Luna who came with her dad, Sean, and another one of my friends, Trinity. So, we got up early on Saturday morning and drove to Lion Country Safari. We had planned to stay 2 nights at the campsite that was connected to the park. There were no cabins available, so we camped. I had loved camping with daddy ... read more
