The Rich and Famous

I took the train on Easter Sunday to West Palm Beach. It’s about an hour train ride. I was going to met some friends from Grand Turk in West Palm and have some supper with them. So I started my way to Joe and Loretta’s house. Joe has this world class bar in his back yard. It’s my second time being there. Well I got there around 4 Pm on Sunday. Joe had some Ice cold beers ready for me right as I get there. We sat in his bar and few beers before we started the BBQ and cooked some burgers. Typical American Supper Beer, Hamburgers, Potato’s on the BBQ. It was a great meal. After a great meal and a few more beers we called it a night after the night before in Ft. Lauderdale it was nice to have a early night.

Well the next morning we got up early and had a great breakfast. With left over hamburgers, hash browns, fresh grapefruit, and other fresh fruits from Florida. We took off to Palm Beach. Palm Beach is a island about 10 mile long and less than ½ wide. Palm Beach is only for the Rich and Famous. People that have house in Palm beach include Donald Trump, Rod Stewart, Jimmy Buffet, and some of the richest people in America.
As we entered into Palm Beach over the bridge was Donald Trumps private home. This house was nothing like I’ve seen before it was massive. House of the 2nd richest person in the world, the grand daughter of the owner of Budweiser. These house and car’s were what you picture when you think of living large. Bentleys, Rolls Royce, Hummers, BMW, and Mercedes everywhere.

After that I went on the train back to Ft. Lauderdale from West Palm Beach. Once I arrived back in Ft. Lauderdale after a 45 min ride. I went to wait for the bus to take back to the house. I ended up getting on the #1 bus that was headed south towards Miami. Totally wrong bus, I didn’t realize until I has half way to Miami in a place called Hollywood. So I got off in Hollywood, Florida and decide I might as well take advantage of being there. Hollywood is a nice small city with amazing remodelled buildings and a great beach. After chilling out on the beach, I need to have something to eat so I found my favourite food “Thai“.
After some well cooked Red Thai curry, one of my favourite dishes. I found the right bus and made it back to Ft. Lauderdale.

The next day was my last day in Florida before I went home. So I had to go down to the beach and catch some sun. I laid on the beach almost all day having a nice relaxing day. For my last night a few of us from the crew house went to for some beers. It was me, Jon (New Zealand), Jackie (USA), and Naomi (also a kiwi). We went to a place called Quarterdeck for a couple pints of beer. Quarter Deck and a place called Waxy’s are common places for people in the yachting industry to hang out. So you can make some great contacts there.

Well Wednesday came very fast. I got to accomplish a lot of things on my short week trip to Florida. With finding out more about the yachting community. To working on a boat for a couple days getting some experience, plus also making and seeing new friends. And seeing the amazing house and toys people have in Florida. I really enjoyed Florida and I’ll be back soon. And that’s what it’s all about. Till my next blog…
