What an amazing place, Florida!! We think we have seen the best and then we move to another area of Florida and its even better. We enjoyed Jim and Deb and their friends so much it was sad to leave them after our week with them. They headed to Sarasota to catch a flight to Seattle and we took off in our little rental car for 2 more weeks of adventure. As adventurous as we can be with a pink lump attached to my right leg. Jim, Deb, Larry and I did the Kennedy Space Center. We drove from Boca Grande to Titusville and spent most of 2 days at the Center. Very interesting. We drove from Boca Grande, which is on the West coast of Florida and made our way to Sanibel and Captiva Islands. ... read more

“There is no moment of delight in any pilgrimage like the beginning of it.” - Charles Dudley Warner January 15, 2010, Friday We left Anastasia and drove to Tomoka SP. We continued our experiment with FL State Parks. It is like going from the “sublime to the ridiculous”; Tomoka appears to be on the coast (from the map), however it is not. The address is on N. Beach Rd, Ormond Beach?? It is a popular SP for fishermen and boaters, located on the Halifax River. It is a bit remote and small, with very little hiking, walking trails, and not in biking distance to anything of interest. So we are here for two nights. We walked to the camp store/boat put-in, then continued on the trail out to The Indian Tribe Monument, the “Tomokie”. It ... read more

Sitting in the marina lounge washing clothes and computering. I downloaded the update file for my chart plotter. Hopefully it will work in cloudy weather now. I still have to download it into my plotter so ther may be some cussing involved. We are going to stay at anchor tonight and leave for Daytona tomorrow morning early. One of my brother's friends may join us for the ride down. His wife is bringing him later today. The marina charges $10.60 per day for the dinghy dock which includes showers and laundry and the lounge with tables and chairs and a TV. Weather has been great and looks good until Friday. Friday and Sat I should be at a marina in Daytona while I take Doug to Orlando to catch a plane. May try to talk Doug's ... read more

Home So, we had to make a red eye flight over to Atlanta and catch a connecting to Jax, where we would finally be re-united with the famous chef and the little retarded orphan child... I mean my mom and my brother. OH YOU GOTTA LOVE AIRPORT PROCEDURE! It was my favorite part of the whole trip! Lines and lines and hey! Lines. After waiting in line for the equivalent of waiting for space mountain, we got to our gate just in time for boarding. You know? You gotta love flying International. Cozy seats, personal screen filled with free movies, music, TV shows, and games, and those little peanuts too. I was there just chillin' watching X-men and family guy and listening to some good music. They even had a hot breakfast for us in the ... read more

St. Augustine to Savannah - 39°c After waking up in good time this morning and mercifully not finding any cockroaches in my room as Nathan and Tim had next door, I made my way down to the coach and even managed to log onto the internet whilst waiting on the coach for others to arrive - the wi-fi signal obviously strong enough where the coach was parked. It was a beautiful morning and made for a lovely start to our journey as we left St. Augustine and headed towards Savannah. We stopped off in Jacksonville around 10am for a brief half hour stop during which time I loaded up with some more snacks from a grocery store. Kristina made a joke about the fact that the back half of the bus (where I’m usually sitting) is ... read more

Today started off a little later, bags to coach was 8am but we got up a lil bit earlier to get our included breakfast... finally, some toast! Vegimite toast was throughly enjoyed by myself and marnee along with a big glass of OJ. We drove for only about 45minutes before we arrived at The Kennedy Space Center. It didnt open til 9am so we were first in the line. We got some pics with the big NASA sign before heading in to check out the rocket park which consisted of alot of different rockets and capsules etc that had been used previously. We then made our way on the bus to the first of 3 stops. Stop 1: Launch Complex 39 Observation Gantry We watched a 6minute briefing film about rocket launchings then made our way ... read more

8am bags to coach! Only a 45min drive to the Space Centre - So we were there for doors opening at 9am. We were there for about 5 hours - which sound like a really long time, but we still didn't get everything done! We saw where all the rockets are take off from, touched moon rock, saw heaps of different presentations, real rockets from different Apollo missions... where they do work for the International Space Station... The only thing we didn't get to do because we ran out of time, was a simulation of being in a ship going off to space which we were really quite upset about! Got into St. Augustine around 4-5pm. LV, both Michelles and I went for a little walk... St. Augustine is a really beautiful town. It's apparently the ... read more
