Joanne ... ColorfulJoanne ... ColorfulJoanne ... Colorful

I have been working on my casual look ... I tend to overdo it! How about these colors!
The drive from Lido Key through Longboat Key on the way to Anna Maria Island is beautiful. These are very high end homes, clubs and condo units. Finally, thanks to those touristy maps surrounded by ads, we found not one, not two, but three water-side watering holes.

The Dry Dock looked great; but we are saving it for another day. The directional hint for this on is that it is "behind the BP station!"

Further along, almost to the Anna Maria Bridge, we headed east on Broadway and slipped right past our destination, signage seems to be a problem on Longboat and "Mar-Vista" is virtually "signless." The nice folks at Moore's Stone Crab (at the bay end of Broadway) were most gracious in directing us to their neighboring competitor. After a brief wait, we were bekoned to a great outdoor table and a wonderful lunch. We'll surely give Moore's a try on a future trip.

After lunch, we hied ourselves to a nearby "secret" spot where we set up beach chairs, read our books, watched dolphin frolic, identified birds and wished we were on a few of the boats heading in and out under a drawbridge.

We needed some roughage after the wonderful Amish meal the previous night. We shared this Caesar with shrimp and crab, mussles in garlic butter, and home baked pineapple coconut bread and washed them down with Margaritas! Great lunch!

Longboat Key is Known for Peacocks

Peacocks were introduced to Longboat Key by a few estate owners who found them to be cool ... lately they have become a bit of a nuisance. We haven't seen any ... but this sign tells a tail!

This is the first time we found restaurants on Longboat Key. The Dry Dock looks great; we snapped a few pix and headed on up the road as it was a little too early for lunch for us. We'll be back!

Dry Dock....did you try it?
Hi there, I'm a new condo owner on Longboat and just trying out the food in the area. Last time we were down, before they started renovations on the Drydock Grille, we had a fabulous meal. I had delicious shrimp tacos - so yummy. My husband had grilled halibut - also very good. If you like a drink, I had a great little cosmopolitan. Just thought I'd share my experience with you. Happy wandering....here's my condo rental site at Casa Del Mar: http://www.vrbo.com/491192 and my new blog.....just getting rolling on this one: http://mmbeachgetaway.com Cheers, Melanie
