Tri Colored Heron (I Think)
This lanky beauty strolled the beach like she owned it --- she probably does! Long time blog followers know how much we love Captiva and Sanibel Islands and never miss a visit when we are in the Fort Myers area. I think you can go back through the travel blogs for the entries about the Lighthouse, the Ding Darling Nature Preserve, the Shell Museum and more if you wish to know more about these beautiful islands. As for today, it was sunny, it was Sunday, and it was time for Captiva. We drove through Sanibel and noticed a nice Farmers' Market and stopped for an avacado, a lime, and a root beer float. Sanibel and Captiva are teaming with great looking galleries, boutiques, shell shops and restaurants; be we ignored their lure and headed right for our favorite beach, located out near one of our favorite restaurants, The Mucky Duck. Oh no, "Close on Sunday" read the sign and the great parking lot which we customers can use to get to the great beach was "secured!" We soldiered on a block or so north to our second favorite beach and spent the day. When hunger struck; along came Joey's floating grill. Great hot dogs, great sand, great surf, great sights, some photography, a few chapters
of our books and a little too much sun - GREAT DAY!
