Tuesday February 5, 2013, Palm Harbor, FL The one about naming The Vista Corners. Thanks ILM Newcomer’s friend, Martha L for answering the corners question. I am so humbled and honored to know that people actually read and take the time to respond!! Here is her answer: I thought what an interesting conversation with handsome rich biker man. I asked (husband) Rob what does corners mean, he said on a motorcycle you lean into corners, and if you corner correctly it is a great feeling!!!! In a motor home Rob says I am sure you feel it lean away from the corner. As you turn a motorcycle it is just the opposite. I am so excited when I learn something new, and I have never heard that used before; biker chick I ... read more

The One About Bucket List Items Breaking camp Sunday morning was kind of bittersweet. Ginnie and I have been together for almost 4 weeks now. She and Joanne are headed to Thousand Trails, Orlando. Kathy has been with us for two weeks; she and her sister DeeDee are headed for DeSoto County Park. All going our separate ways, to meet up again in a week or so, minus Joanne and DeeDee. Amazing as it seems, we were all ready at the same time, and followed each other out of the campground. HOLY COW!! I never told you about Joanne’s RVwarming gift for me. She brought with her, in her amazingly small duffel bag (no suitcase…..don’t fit in RVs) collapsible measuring cups. What a great gift for a camper and what a great gift for me; I ... read more

Sunday February 5, Orlando to Palm Harbor, FL And Monday February 6, Palm Harbor And Tuesday February 7, Palm Harbor Busy, busy busy, no time to write, but boy do I get phone calls, txt msgs, emails when I am silent. Makes me feel good. So, to catch up. I will take each of the 3 days separately. Sunday first It didn’t rain, so it was pleasant unhooking. Bittersweet for sure, Ginnie and I had a great time here in the dustbowl, but time to move on. Sad to leave her for a week for sure. First stop, gas, $3.539, and glad I did because that was the cheapest I saw it throughout the day. Over the river and thru the woods. I didn’t want to take I4 the whole way, I wanted to see the ... read more

When all good things come to and end. Sadly, this will probably be my last entry from Tampa, Florida. This week has felt so surreal and gone by rather quickly as the anticipation of my departure on the 19th of January grows more and more intense. How did it get to be 2011? How did the last 6 months of my life flash by so quickly? By the amount of stuff that I HAVEN'T bought, you could guess that i've only been here for a couple of fun-filled weeks. This week has basically been about getting anything that I can't get back at home, seeing everybody before I leave, and just doing things one last time, like eating at the Olive Garden! I know it's not the most amazing food but it's my favourite place ... read more

This is my first post on this Travel Blog site. My regular blog site is at www.livingandworkingfree.blogspot.com. While that site has covered much of my travel in the past, it’s really designed to be more about my living and working free philosophy (which is evolving to simply, “living free”) then the travel aspect of my lifestyle. Last year I traveled about 16,000 miles around the U.S. The vast majority of the travel was on the ground by car. This year (2011), I’m hoping to increase the amount of miles I cover on the ground to more then 20,000 miles. Part of the plan for 2011 is to acquire a moderate sized (30’ to 34’) motor home and tow the recently acquired Ford Focus LX5 hatchback car behind it. Most of the point-to-point miles will be in ... read more

Many things have happened to me in the space of about a month, so here’s a blog dedicated to those particular things. So it was time to experience my first Thanksgiving with the Becks. The day itself was considerably lazy, the American spirit was high and facebook was filled with thankful statuses. Our plan for the day was to go and eat ourselves into a coma at the Uelman house (long time friends of Will and his family) and subsequently sleep it off the next day. There was so much food to choose from; a HUGE turkey, green bean casserole, sweet potatos (candied yams) 2 types of stuffing and all the pumpkin and apple pie we could ask for. I couldn’t finish an entire plate, as I had not been properly “trained” over the years, but ... read more

It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark, Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart, you try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it, you start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes, you're paralyzed..." So the build up to Halloween has been coming for many months now, with decorations on houses and advertisements for endless costumes and scary movies. Being an Australian, I was somewhat deprived of the "trick or treat" phenomenon, as our country ACKNOWLEDGES halloween, but doesn't celebrate it as a community holiday- it is more commercial/more of an excuse for teenagers to throw a raging party, dress up like skanks and get extremely drunk. (Yes, I have participated in these parties in the past... :P) It ... read more

Okay, so it's been a little longer than I anticipated to write another blog, but i'm not doing enough things close together enough to justify writing a blog per week. So once every couple of weeks, when things get exciting. Which this week they did! Paintballing! It is a well known fact that over the years, the Beck boys have participated in paintball and become quite serious about it- guns, ammo, masks, everything was set to go. So after pulling everything out of the boxes from Australia, it was time to take the australian girls paintballing! Adam and maeghan had the pleasure of going first, and returned home that night raving about how awesome it was. Then it was up to me and the boy. About a week later, it was a last minute decision after ... read more

Rachel turns 19! So the week started like any other, Will had to go to class at 9am on monday and naturally, I slept in because my list of "things to do" is not exactly pressing. It's lovely. So what did I do this week? I dyed my hair! And finally stopped being stingy by acually going to a professional salon called "La Mirage" (google it if you're feeling adventurous). The salon itself has a spa as well, it was all really quite fancy actually: massages, waxing, facials, nails, and then the separate hairdresser. I felt out of place as soon as I turned up in my checkered shorts and converse shoes, as all the women (both staff and clients) were dressed in upper class couture and clappy clap heels. But the women were so ... read more

Don't worry, be Happy. So it was one of those weeks that by the end of it, you are left potentially more tired that you were at the beginning of the week. But, as everyone knows in my case, it was due to doing absolutely nothing with my time. SO, instead of listing out what I achieved on a daily basis and repetitively writing "and then we lay around all day", I figured i'd list down the highlights of this week. 1. The joys of returning to the Apple store, for the 4th time in about two weeks. So I called apple, and they asked me to make ANOTHER appointment to figure out what was wrong with my computer. As ut turns out, the charger input IN my computer wasn't actually the issue- it was ... read more
