My weekend has consisted of lining Walt's pockets yet again. Lynn had to pay over £300 for 2 days admission into the Disney theme parks and waterparks for her, Becky and Zander. Luckily I paid extra the last time for the no expiry option on my ticket so I didn't have to pay again. Saturday was spent at the Magic Kingdom, where the excitement came from the Splash Mountain roller-coaster breaking down whilst we were on the steep climb up to the top. We hung there for about five minutes without moving while they played a recorded message saying there was [View Full Entry]

A chilly taxi transfer down to Glasgow Airport; the driver picks us up at 5.45am telling us that this will be his second trip to Glasgow airport that morning. The 357,000 miles on his 3 year old Zafira and his sunken face confirm his tale of too many frosty mornings. Safely in the Airport we check in, board and depart with no troubles, drama or excitement. On the plane i conclude that I've been given the worst seat out of the 430 available. Right at the very back, in the middle of a block of 3 seats and with a good [View Full Entry]

It's true what they told me before we came travelling; you live to your budget. You could probably travel around the world with little more than the shirt on your back and couple hundred quid in the bank. How much you'd get out of this, I don't know. By the same token, if you set off with a cool mill, then that's how much you're gonna spend, because you're all like "I didn't save all this cash not to spend it...give me another faberge egg". I can only speculate that had me and Veg not saved as much as we did [View Full Entry]

Weekend in Orlando - long week in Holiday On the Saturday (19th) we took the bus to the Blizzard beach water park - some of those slides are scary! We had a great time and were the last out of the park! On the Sunday (20th) we went to Universal Studios - we bought tickets for both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure - great !!! - see the pictures. Took our time on Monday the 21st and left about lunchtime to travel via Tampa to Holiday. Absolutely lovely villa which we found on www.vrbo.com (Vacation Rentals By Owners). All [View Full Entry]

Hello all and sorry for the delay in communications! So our final stop Florida and a stop characterised by substantial food, drink and more food! We were met by my sister and overwhelmingly grateful for her clean, lovely house, washing machine and clean sheets...agh the simple pleasures!! We had a great time catching up with family news getting to know our beautiful niece better and of course exploring he various food options of the states, highlights include the ale house full of chicken zingers and many, many beers and enourmous chinese take aways all washed down with my sisters emormous coc [View Full Entry]

Packing is the hardest part So I have 3 days to get my act together for this summer's backpacking adventure. I think i have most of the supplies I'll need, and in reality, anything I don't have already I'll be able to purchase when I get to Cancun. Being that this is my first entry I have a lot to cover, so let me get started. I think the best place to start with will be my planned itinerary. My departure from Orlando International Airport takes place the morning of July 10, 2006, after a short lay over in Ft. Lauderdale, [View Full Entry]

"The Bag"
A little goes a long way

Friday: Today I drove up to Orlando where I arrived in record time and promptly got lost on the way to Ryan's house. Only after I passed the gleaming buildings of downtown Orlando and waded through and hour of traffic did I think of phoning my native Orlandan friend. Then he proceeded to tell me that I'd wasted an hour of my time and had to turn around. To make a long story short, I finally found his home, was warmly reuinited with the bestest Ryan Caparella EVER and promptly began having fun. We attended a beautiful Italian restaurant and had [View Full Entry]

I leave for Romania once again in a little more than 2 days. This trip will be much like our last. We will be doing free medical clinics with the Gypsy (Roma) people of northwest Romania. Or team is much smaller this time; 6 people, but we are ready to do some hard work. I'm not sure how much time or internet access that I will have this time around, but I promise to update my blog when I am able. Happy trails to us! Amy :) [View Full Entry]

We had a near-miss with a near-hurricane in Orlando (tropical storm 'Alberto' - it reached 70mph, a hurricane is 74) , where we our trip to Disney got decidedly rained-off. We made it to Downtown Disney (the free bit) - we ate at Planet Hollywood (extortionate, and terrible service), visited Legoland, where Raj had his impressive Lego sculpture entertainingly ruined by a 4 year old child, and explored the many shops full of Disney related tack. Our hostel was quite a gem. We've mostly stayed in cheap hotels, though avoiding chain hotels, and bed and breakfasts - only two or three [View Full Entry]

Planet Rip-off

As I mentioned in our last blog, after we spent a few days visiting family and friends up north, we ended our trip to the States with a few days in Orlando. We were there with Dara’s sister, Marcy, and her family. In case I haven’t mentioned it before (or if I mentioned it so long ago that everyone has forgotten), they have two little girls - Jenna, who is about 8 months younger than Eliana, and Jordanna, who is almost 2. The cousins have a great time together. I don’t really have a lot to say about this part of [View Full Entry]
