Here we are in Orlando for the winter, need to find a part time job after we get settled in. The RV Resort we are staying at is very close to Disney World and Sea World. We applied for a job at Disney but were never called so we decided to try Sea World for employment. It was a surprise to find Sea World was only 20mins from our winter home. The day we applied for a job we were hired, Art was placed in Traffic Division and I was placed at the entrance gate taking tickets then later had a [View Full Entry]

We left Jellico, Tn and continued down I75 on our way to Florida. As we approached Knoxville we thought about visiting some friends, (Rick and Jane) but Judy reminded me that they were at Myrtle Beach at the time. Both of us had Doctors appointments to attend in Naples on the 4th so we continued on. Earlier in the summer we had made reservations at an RV Park just outside Orlando, called Lake Magic, so we stopped there for 2 nights and then onto Naples for the appointments. While in Naples we also returned to our storage unit and got rid [View Full Entry]

Hot Air Balloons

First blog, what do I write, normally I'm never short on words. But writing them is a different thing. Am really looking forward to this Holiday, I'm sure we'll all have a great time. Personally I can't wait to see the looks on the girls faces when we all walk, no run through the main gates at Magic Kingdom. We're planning on going to the parks from the 19th, then Boxing Day to http://www.airboateverglades.com and then after a night in Naples, leaving the folks there for a few days so they can chill, and we'll head back to the Villa. Then [View Full Entry]

Waking up with dull pounding head, I checked out of the hotel and headed to the Daytona Speedway where I promised myself a tour. Some how I ended up inside the Oval, not on the track but on the little island within it. Watching some very dull bike racing, the rain started to pour, they stopped the racing and I headed to Orlando, where it had all begun 4 weeks ago. I choose Orlando chiefly because it is so bloody cheap. Checking into the Quality Inn on International Drive the inevitable happened - Matercard was declined. My trustee friend over the [View Full Entry]

I booked for 2 nights thinking that a couple of days in a familiar place would be a gentle break into solo travel. I completely unpacked my bag and made a list of everything I still needed to buy, then it was off to Walmart. Without doubt the best thing for sale in Walmart is an inflatable snow globe that has Santa locked inside. The whole thing is worked by an air pump that circulates [View Full Entry]

The last day at the luxurious Cypress Pointe; it was a frantic start to the day packing my bags from 8am. Lynn and Co's flight home was scheduled for 4pm and we all had to be out of the apartment by 10am. Lynn cleverly masked her panic in not having anything packed by sitting on the balcony smoking fags, I masked my panic by having a bath. Becky and Zander masked their panic with sleep. We were checked out by 10.30am, and on our way to Disney. Becky's habit demanded she needed one more Disney fix before she was off, so [View Full Entry]

Disney To The Rescue
On Golden Pond

A very good but unremarkable day spent mostly at Universal studios, the highlight of which has to be Shrek 4D. The park was really quiet with no more than a 10 minute wait on any ride, so considering that some of the rides go up to a 2 hour wait when the park is busy this was a real bonus. Park closed early at 6pm so we were back at the hotel and in the pool for the early evening, followed by an Italian for tea, then Disney's Fantasia Mini Golf. Just when I thought Walt had squeezed his last nickel [View Full Entry]

Ouch

For the last full day with Lynn & Co. we all headed off to Dennys for the big greasy breakfast, then it was Islands of Adventure - Universal's 2nd park. This park has the biggest roller coasters in Orlando and is aimed more at teenagers and older. Lynn chickened out of the big roller coasters last time but did herself proud today, going on both of the big coasters; Hulk and Duelling Dragons. The highlight of the park for me has to be Rip-Saw falls, you get absolutely soaked but the best bit is the coin operated water-scooshers. The people on [View Full Entry]

And I thought that was the last of Disney, how wrong could I be! The morning finally started at 1pm oncw everyone was ready with a visit to Dennys, the home of the All American Breakfast. Breakfast came and went and we were all off to Disney's Blizzard Beach. Another example of Walt's desin to relieve the everyday man from his dollar. The best part of Blizzard Beach has to be "Summit Plummet" an almost vertical drop waterslide where I hit 58mph on the way down, only to be congratulated by a wedgie so far up my arse i could [View Full Entry]

Fantasmic North America » United States » Florida » Orlando
Monday was spent at Disney's second biggest theme park - MGM Studios. It was a marathon performance arriving at 11am and leaving 10 hours later, a new record. We enjoyed the now standard fare of roller coasters, 3D film presentations and queuing for sweaty costumed student's autographs. We were at the park for so long because we'd heard that the light show at the end called Fantasmic was a must-see. Well we waited, and waited, and waited. Then we watched the show. Then we left. No more Disney on this trip, Lynn's tickets have now expired - wayhey!! So it's off [View Full Entry]
