When we found out that the space shuttle was going to be launched during our stay in Orlando.
"We just had to be there!"
So with fingers crossed, we travelled to Cocoa Beach.
We knew it would be a great place to watch the launch.
(Several years earlier we'd made the same journey, but the shuttle was canceled at the last minute due to a storm.)
Happily we all had a great day, all went to plan - without a hitch.

Next was a visit to Daytona International Speedway.
And we just had to do the tour....
After a night in Downtown Disney we we decided to visit Sea World.
This was a first for us because there is so much to do in Orlando, that we'd never got around to doing it before.
Must say we were well impressed.
Capones was another first, but we've wanted to do that for ever.
It's a show based in the 1930s gangland Chicago. When alcohol was illegal.....
It was the best laugh we'd had in ages....

The knotted hankie gave it away Pete... Come on dude it's Cocoa beach not Blackpool Beach...
(As usual Skim made the most of that and could bearly walk a straight line after)
Having spent 2 great weeks showing our relatives around Orlando,
it was time to say our goodbyes and hit the road again.
This time it was to head back to New Orleans and then onwards to Colarado.

Good to hear from you. looks wonderful what an experience seeing the shuttle being sent off. i bet it was very noisy and busy. who were the gangsters you or the cartoon characters. xxx

Loving the pics, yous both look like yous are having a BLAST!! while yous are still sporting summer wear Im bundled up in a blanket,lol. This is so kool to be able to keep in touch
Yes the shuttle was pretty noisy, and the crowd were just as loud. But it was a great day, although it was hot and sticky. Love to all, the gangsters (Skid & Skim)
We remember so well how cold New Zealand can be! But don't worry we will be experiencing a british winter on our return home and no doubt we'll also be bundled in lots of blankets to keep the cold out. Take care all xx
