Disney at last. Right now (as I write) I am poolside at Disney All-Star Sports Resort. The one vacation destination I said I never wanted to go to again yet I am very excited to be here.

Four more hours of drving this AM. We said goodbye to Tallahassee and a flock of new friends with the Tallahassee Parrothead Club.

Jimmy did a good show last night. The Leon Center at FSU is a pretty intimate indoor venue, clearly built for basketball and noticeably smaller than the Centrum or the Garden. It was a pretty safe set-list and he didn’t seem to put the energy into it that he gives at a Great Woods show. Linda got all the way down to the floor, sixth row!!

Not a lot happened yesterday outside of the JB concert. We got a very late start out the door from the hotel. A quick trip to Walmart and then breakfast at IHOP around noon. It was all party from there.

The TPC had a great idea which, perhaps the Mass club could copy. They rent a parking lot across from the venue and charge a “cover” to get in, they give you some food, beer and they hired a band. All the money left after costs goes to charity.

We have been having a lot of fun with the song, "Red solo cup" since yesterday. The band at the tailgating party played it no less than 4 times.

The rest of the parking lot experience was pale in comparison to what we are used to from Great Woods. No Tire Swings, no pools, no ice luges..none of the theatrics and over-the-top celebration like at home. Jello shots were weak. (Though I am pretty certain I made the local news giving a “clinic” on proper tongue technique for dislodging the shot from the cup!)

I finally have found something in Florida that I do not like. Yesterday afternoon during tailgating I discovered, the hard way, for the very first time in my life….Fire Ants. There were several hills of them and while the locals obviously know enough to avoid them, it seems that I stepped on one and picked up a couple. For itty-bitty tiny ants, those sons of bitches hurt. I think Craig took a few hits too..

We got a much earlier start today…more driving. Not a lot which is good..I am about done with that. An uneventful day other than arriving in Disney. We have been going and going and going for three days now, it is nice to relax. The beer will flow….

It's a semi-true story,
believe it or not;
I made up a few things,
and there's some I forgot.
But the life and the telling
are both real to me.
and they all run together,
and turn out to be
a semi-true story

I have started this blog to chronicle the adventures of my good friends, Cheryl and Craig, as they move from the Boston are to Sarasota FL. Joining them in their first steps towards this are myself and my wife, Linda. The intent is to be able to share with family and friends as they move into this new life together, so far from where they began. We are driving down and hope to have fun and perhaps a bit of zaniness on the way.... full info
