Hmmm.....well we will be leaving this RV park (thankfully) on Jan. 1st. We are at the Gold Rock Camground in New Smyrna Beach, Florida......do NOT come here....unless you just need an overnight stay. While we are only 3 miles from the beach....this campground is tiny. No pool, no laundry facilities (problem with their septic), no activities, only 43 sites (most are seasonal), sites are not too level, two showers (not cleaned since we've been here), but no private dressing area.
The weather has been great here....75-85 most days and 60-70 most nights. Just a couple of days of rain. It has been perfect beach weather and being so close....I wish we could have taken advantage of it. Jim is not a beach person and my foot is not yet 'up to' a lot of walking anyway.....so except for a drive on the beach when we first arrived and a day when our friends Dwight & Val visited...we haven't been there. I tried to post the pics with the corresponding paragraphs, but the travelblog is not allowing me to do so. The pics will be posted as the program allows.
At the middle of the month I flew from Orlando
to New Hampshire for my niece Laura's wedding. It was wonderful to visit with family and 3 days of GREAT food!!
Christmas day we were finding ourselves alone (since nobody here does anything) and trying to figure out what to do. We ended up going to a Chinese buffet that we had been to before. We were glad we did as they had a special 'Christmas' buffet (who knew?) and served delicous ham, turkey, roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, pumpkin pie & apple pie a la mode, as well as their standard chinese offerings.
Thursday, the 29th we drove to the Kennedy Space Center, which is approx. 30 miles south of us. I took many pictures and posted a few of them. The space center is a wild animal preserve also and we saw a large group of wild hogs (from piglets right up to adults) on the side of the road. There was no way for us to pull over to get a picture. Also saw a Bald Eagle, in the wild (sitting on top of a pole)....again I was not able to get a picture, but what a thrill to actually see one!
Tomorrow we
will be packing up for our move on Sunday. We will be heading to Fort Myers, which is a 4 hour drive South and West from our current location. We spent last January there and found plenty to keep us busy. There are orange trees all over the RV park and we are encouraged to pick the oranges. They are 'Honeybell' oranges and are the sweetest oranges I have ever tasted. (mmmmmmm.....I can taste them already!)
Hope you all have a Happy New Year. Enjoy the pics!

Happy New Year
Glad to hear that all is reasonably well - but just can't believe that you had your foot run over!! Enjoy and I'm looking forward to hear more of your journey.
