Corporate Trainers in Miami OfficeThis is a picture of my fellow Corporate Trainers. We are in the Miami Office learning about all of the International Regulations for Seamen.
Hi there Everyone,
So as many of you know, or those of you who are going to be made aware of my travels, I am currently working as a Corporate Trainer for Carnival Cruise Lines. I will be sailing the Caribbean and Central America training all company initiatives.
So my adventure begins…
The Eagle has landed. And as much as I would like to say in one piece I cannot. There is a handful of my skin in the man who was sitting beside me on the plane who was a 'nervous' flyer's hand. When we hit some turbulence he decided that I was better than the arm of the chair to grab onto... Oh well I did my good deed for the day ( yesterday ).
The flight to Philly was okay, nothing to overkill; I sat beside a Spanish man who was reading a 'Learn to Speak English' book, which was hilarious. He asked me if I knew how to speak English and I responded with, "Je ne parle pas". That’s why I needed to let the 'nervous' flyer take some skin so Karma doesn’t get me later.
I waited in Philly for 3 hours until my connecting flight to Miami departed. I ate a BLT minus the T, and let me tell you the 700lb Ghetto Fabulous Black lady didn’t know what I meant when I said minus the T so I used Tomatoe, she said, "You from Canada" I said, " Yes I am" to her "UM HRM". Gotta love the Ghetto Fab attitude. Anyhow... The flight to Miami seemed to take forever I am not sure why but it did - and with my bleeding arm and all...
I got to the hotel where the rest of the corporate trainers were waiting for me and a girl who flew from India. Apparently everyone paid for the 500$ direct flights where as I didn’t, thus my late arrival. We walked over some of the weeks details and then went to our rooms. I was BEAT, Up at 2 am bed by 7pm.
Today, we went to Carnival Cruise Lines Corp Office in Miami, which was very nice, its like being at a resort all on its own, Not a white service person for miles :P I know I know, how shameful of me to give a visual, but it is Miami after all.. HAHAHA So, they told us that we would be here until Thursday and then we are flying to LOS ANGELES until December where we will board a Ship and train aboard, the LA cruise goes from Long Beach to Catalina and Encenada Mexico (I am not sure of the spelling just yet) And from there we will be disbursed to our ships. So for all of you that I said my route was Bahamian - I COULD BE WRONG. They will determine our routes after our training as each ship is a different size the stronger trainers will get larger ships etc... So I will send everyone an update later ok.
Oh and did I mention that Miami is NOTHING like what you see on TV, CSI, MIAMI INK, ETC... Well I’m sure it is at South Beach or the keys, but Miami by International Airport is GHETTTTTOOOO! Like I think all of the run down 1950's memorabilia came here to die. But all is well. I had to go to Wal-Mart tonight and buy another suit case. YES ANOTHER ONE, to fit my shoes.... HAHAH no, we were fitted for our suits/tux today and well they didn’t tell us that we needed to transport ALL OF IT, and there is ALOT. So I needed another bag to carry all that.
So to this point, you are up to date, the ppl I am with are fantastic, I am with a Scottish, English, Indian, South African, 4 Canadians - Montreal, BC, Toronto and ME. So this is proving to be fun. If I come back with a different accent you can certainly understand why.
Here is the part you don’t want to know, it is like 32 degrees C here I’m sweating buckets and the corporate staff are saying this is the cold time of yr.. BUT BUT BUT,,, my uniform is a Wool/Polyester blend, so have some sympathy.
I miss yah all already and will keep ya up to date. I will send these updates as installments. This being Part 1.
HUGS EVERYONE,
Brooks
