Yesterday morning was warm and still; a perfect day to put our name on our boat. We’d been carrying it around since we left home, but the weather had not been cooperative. But now was the time. First we cleaned the transom, then laid out the decals on the floor to decide on spacing, before marking the transom with blue painters tape. We sprayed the transom and the decal with soapy water and slid it into place, then squeegeed all the bubbles out. Then we repeated the process with the second line. The hardest part was waiting for them to get good and dry before peeling the backing paper off.

While we waited, Kerry and I went to the grocery store and Kmart. Since we don’t have the electricity to run the refrigerator, we are relying on the ice chest to keep perishables cold. But you can’t keep a weeks worth of food in a cooler, at least not if you’re trying to keep your beer cold, too. So we go to the grocery every two or three days. Once back from the store, we peeled the backing paper off, and are thrilled with the way our name and home

port look on our transom. We have a name and it shows.

This morning was softball again. Today Trevor played, too. He hadn’t played organized baseball or softball since T-ball, but did quite well. They put him at catcher and he played well, even catching some pop-up fouls for outs. Sara played first base, something she’s wanted to do. She did a fine job and hit the ball well when up to bat. Kerry played catcher for his team. Sara and Trevor were on the same team, but playing against Kerry. I did an excellent job of heckling the players. It’s an important job, but I’m up to it. I think Sara, Trevor and Kerry may all have sore muscles tomorrow. It was another 9 inning game, way too long, we thought.

After the game, Sara, Trevor and I went to the Hurricane Grille for lunch. Kerry’s back was hurting, so he headed for the shower, then back to the boat, where he ran the engine to charge the batteries. Tonight we went back to the Hurricane for $1 taco night. Delicious. Yes, it’s a tough life here, but we’ll hang in there and do our best.

Glad to see Trevor made it onto the field. You all made for such good times during such a disappointing vacation. Thank you so much for the time, meals and laughs spend on board last week.

Looks great!
Love the name on your transom . . . looks very nice. We still have a beer cozy on our boat with Wild Cove Marina on it and it always reminds me of you two. Looks like this is NOT the year we'll get to the east coast and the great loop, but we sure love reading about your adventures!
