The one about catching up for February There are a lot of pictures here. Make sure you look after the end of the text to see them all. KM Good thing I check in so many places on my Swarm app. I can just go back to 2/9, scroll forward, and bring back some good and fun memories. So, memories in no specific order, here we go. We went to Disney Springs which some of you will remember as Downtown Disney. It has been undergoing a multi year expansion. One new HUGE parking deck completed, another being built. When you walk out of the multi story deck, you are put into a new area of moderate to expensive shoppes and restaurants. A half mile walk puts you to the ‘older’ more familiar area, near the Lego ... read more

Concert at Sea World Saturday the 13th was a lay back day. We had been doing a lot of running the last few days so it was nice to wake up when I felt like it and move slowly. Isn't that what retirement is all about! The hawks came back to the neighborhood briefly and squawked and carried on to let me know they were here. I practiced catching them in flight with my new lens and was able to get a couple nice shots. The moon was visible too, it was just begging for it's image to be captured. At 5:30 we went to the rec hall to serve strawberry short cake to the people that were coming in for the Valentine dance. It is a fund raiser for the improvement of the dog park, ... read more

The Orca Show Wednesday the 10th was a lay back day. We made a quick trip to Walmart then came home to relax. I borrowed Kim's golf cart and collected my laundry and headed up to the bath house to see what the new rules were this year. I found 2 machines empty so I got my loads in and headed back to the camper. The weather was a little better than it had been, at least we had sun but still that biting cool north wind. The temp was about 58 but if you got out of the wind it was quite pleasant sitting out and reading. I collected the wash, straightened the camper, walked Oscar then headed for the lake. I can't believe I've been here a week and a half and haven't been ... read more

Lazy Days in the Park The last few days have been leisure ones, grocery shopping, visiting, and taking longer walks. I have read some of my book, enjoyed the sun and especially enjoy feeling stronger. We of course, had a Super Bowl party at Kat's house where she made a new recipe with crescent roll dough, chili mix and hot dogs. Kim brought vegetables and a dip, Ginnie dessert and I brought chicken wings with dipping sauce. We had mixed loyalties about our favorite teams but we all enjoyed the game and some of the commercials. The ultra sound of the baby was the majority favorite, mine was the wiener dogs. I invited our group for breakfast yesterday but it was too cold to eat outside in the morning so we decided to have pancakes and ... read more

Travels with Snowbirds 2016, January 24 to February 9, Thousand Trails Orlando, Clermont, FL Another one about catching up I have settled nicely into the dull roar of life at TTO. We did lots of fun things, and lots of down time. In no chronological order, here’s a catch-up. I moved my site one more time. E103, next to Ginnie, put my back end under a tree in the morning. The sun didn’t hit the side until noon or so, and Moya never warmed up. The Feng Shui was just not right for me or Winston or Ginnie. My door side was in the shade, meaning sitting out for breakfast or lunch wasn’t going to happen. I kept watching for a site across the street to open up, and after a fashion, I noticed E96’s occupants ... read more

Sea World Couldn't figure out why my alarm didn't go off this morning, till I looked at the volume and discovered it was turned off. I had 40 min to get up, dressed, have breakfast, feed and walk Oscar to be ready for my ride to Sea World. We got there as the doors were opening and thank goodness the line for tickets was very short. The weather was cool this morning and rain was predicted for the afternoon, so for a Saturday the park was not busy. We headed to the dolphin show and got great seats close to the front but not too close where we'd get wet. The theater quickly filled and the show was terrific. Pictures. They introduced 2 Pilot Whales that were rescued as babies and unable to be released into ... read more

Wine Day I slept in and missed the launch. There was a Saturn rocket that launched from the Cape at 8:38 am carrying a GPS satellite and of all days to sleep in it had to be this one. The rocket was just a speck but there was a vapor trail and I was here in FL and missed it, poo. It was very brisk this morning but it felt good to walk since it was cool so Oscar and I made a large loop around the campground. Back at the camper I read some e mails then sat in the sun and read my book for about 1/2 hr til it was time to head to the winery. It was about 25 min from here and we were able to get on the next tour ... read more

Blog 02-04-16 We are a pretty Awesome group! Kat and I had arranged to go to Kim's house at 10 am to try to help her with a golf cart. She stored it here in FL last year and the batteries roasted, rendering the machine inoperable. She got new batteries and a friend helped her install them and the cart worked fine but the batteries would not recharge. Oh, what to do! She called a local repair place and they told her how to change the wiring and said it was simple. Well, maybe for them. Kim had taken pictures of the wires before she removed the old batteries so we referred to them and used our logic to put red to red, black to black and don't forget to attach the connecting wires to wire ... read more

Settling into Thousand Trails Orlando My friends found me a site that backs up to open land that is actually a cattle pasture. There are only 6 cows and at least 50 acres so there is lots of room for them to roam. We have had time to visit with each other and catch up a little and participate in activities here. There weather has been beautiful, with sun and daytime highs in the low 80s. There is a beautiful swimming pool, rec hall, an on going rv show, bingo, socials, boccie ball, tennis and a lake to enjoy. Last night there was a fund raiser for improvements to the dog park and I was able to help make strawberry shortcakes. There were smiles on the customers faces and money raised for a good cause. Thousand Trails I left White Springs this morning about 8:20 am, really quite an accomplishment for me. I was driving to Clermont, FL about 2 1/2 hrs from here and I wanted to get there close to 11 because you had to find your site, no reservations, and I wanted to be near my friends. They had a perfect site for me already picked out and I got there in time to claim it. The whole campground is a nature preserve but this site backed up to trees and a huge field. I no sooner parked a visited a little when 6 red-shoulder hawks started having a territory war over the ground right behind me. Oh, there was screeching and dive bombing that lasted most of the afternoon. I really wanted to throw myself in a ... read more
