It was another Sea World day today. Kat and I decided to do another day at Sea World since there was more to see and our pass gets us in for free.
When we got into the park I wanted my picture taken by the light house so we were lining up the shot so Kat could take it when this wonderful man came along and asked if he could take both of us. How could we refuse.. It turned out that he was a photographer who was employed by Sea World to sell pictures. Well he did a fine job with my instant camera and we got a picture of both of us.
Our plan was to head to the dolphin show at 10am then get over to the Shamu theater for the 12 noon show. We got a really good seat in the dolphin theater and watched as almost all the seats were filled. The show was really exciting, I could feel the adrenalin rush as the show progressed. I’ll let the pictures tell the tale. They also included a bird show with parrots and there was even a condor that did a fly by, very exciting.
After the show we had an hour to get to the Shamu show so we walked slowly and decided to visit the wild arctic exhibit. We had a short wait til they opened but then we went right in and took a helicopter ride the the artic outpost. All in a simulator but fun. They had baluga whales, a polar bear and walruses.
It was time to get our seats for the Shamu show so off we went. There was ½ an hour before show time so we found 2 seats and I went off to find something to eat. There were soft pretzels that fit the bill so we both sat enjoying our treat and watched all the people filing in. There was a game that the billboard was getting people with cell phones to play. Text one of 4 characters and they would say HI to you. So Kat sent a KatKat message and we got our names up on the billboard. Then they said to send your picture so Kat did and our picture was up on the board after the show. Fun, and kept the crowd entertained until the show started.
The start
was the largest orca doing a huge jump in the middle of the pool and splashing most of the front rows. It was really exciting to see these enormous creatures get all turned on to do the show. They picked up their pace of swimming and just showed so much enthusiasm. The largest orca was the mother of little Shamu and he swam next to her and did whatever she did, including jumps. Pictures.
At the end of the show several orcas swam near the edge and splashed the audience up to 10 rows up, the crowd went wild.
The trainers were SO enthusiastic and energetic, but no one went in the pool with the orcas or got near the edge. Everyone’s hair was tied up, all with wet suits one.
When the show was over we headed toward the main exit but took a slight detour to a jewelry store. Kat said there were beautiful things there so who was I to turn a chance to look anyway. I ended up buying an oyster that a diver brought up for me. I had to tap on the shell 3 times, they rang a bell and opened the
oyster to reveal my treasure. It was a blue pearl, the 2nd most rare and perfectly formed, I was really lucky. So I bought a pendent like a cage for the pearl and now have a beautiful necklace.
We headed home and were back by 1:15pm so the dogs didn’t have forever to wait for us.
I made a salad for lunch and sat in the shade with Oscar and read my book. What a wonderful relaxing afternoon.
I had leftovers for dinner, took Oscar for a walk down to the lake and back, watched the sunset, took a shower and settled in for the night. Another great day in Florida. High temp 84 degrees. Sure am using the convertible.
