Well, I can't believe that it's nearly time. I've been planning this trip for months now, and I leave tomorrow. It feels surreal, like I don't believe that it's really happening. I've spent the last few days making some last-minute arrangements like spraying my jungle hiking clothes with an intense (and very toxic while applying) insect repellant that stays in your clothes, and packing. Aside from the many fun immunizations I received a few months ago (for interesting sounding stuff like Japanese Encephalitis and Typhoid) I'm going to so many different and diverse places, that I had to pack a lot of things that are new for a trip of mine like:
- Multitool
- Quick-Dry clothing
- Electrolyte mix in case of dehydration
- Candles and flashlights in case of power outages
- Hiking Shoes
- Mosquito Coils
- Military-strength insect repellent, literally the strongest stuff the sporting store had
- Compass
- Antibiotics (just in case)
- First aid kit
- Toilet Paper (in many parts of SE Asia, you bring your own - yikes)
- A lifetime supply of Advil, Immodium, Benadryl, etc
I'll be in the air for 25 hours to get to Southeast Asia stopping in Detroit and Tokyo which I'm not looking forward to, although I've got Bangkok's top Marriott waiting for me when I get in! The rest of the itinerary will include Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, The Netherlands, and finally the UK. Should be a good time!
This should also serve as a test post for future blog entries. If the subscribing feature is having any issues, let me know. Also, forward me with anyone who might want to read the posts or who I may have forgotten. My next post will be from Asia!
