Loads of Fun in the Bath
Loads of Fun in the Bath
Sofia and Maddie
We arrived in Hartford by bus and met Lenny, Daddy's good buddy from college at the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB). He was also with Jack, his 1 year old. It was the first time we met Jack. He was a cutie. We then went to Lenny's and met up with Stacy, his wife, and Maddy, their cute 3 year old daughter who I had seen 2 years earlier in Miami. I had a lot of fun playing with Maddie and all of her toys. It was also really cold in Hartford, and I saw snow for the first [View Full Entry]

Obfuscator writes: Connecticut proved to be much more reasonable than Rhode Island, at least in terms of keeping us entertained. That's not to say that Connecticut was entirely non-disappointing. Groton, which is across the Thames River from New London, is home to a major submarine base for the Navy. It's also home to the Submarine Museum and U.S.S. Nautilus, which was the first nuclear submarine. We had high hopes for this, being interested in the craziness that is submarine history. Fortunately for us, it didn't seem to be closed for the season, a refreshing change in this part of the c [View Full Entry]

A Very Fast Boat
Obfuscator writes: Now, to be fair, almost any place will look worse, and be less interesting if it rains during the entirety of your stay there. That said, considering how pricey I've heard Rhode Island is, I was expecting a much nicer place. It's also tiny. We arrived in Woonsocket, RI in the previous night, and looked for a motel there, perhaps against our better judgment, since Woonsocket had a distinct and unpleasant odor. We found a motel without too much effort, but I think by that point we had already crossed back into Massachusetts. To put things in perspective even [View Full Entry]

Dear Watchers of the Blog, If you thought I was raving about Mystic Seaport, wait 'til you hear me on the subject of Essex! This is such a perfect New England town. It only has 1 traffic light, a roundabout, and lovely old, very old homes. Plus, it is situated on the Connecticut River and was a major boat building port. It was here that the British landed and burned all 25 boats that were docked or being built for privateers. These privateers were enlisted to aid the defense of our young country in the War of 1812. We took a [View Full Entry]

"The Old Man and the Sea
Dear Faithful Followers of the Foliage Blog, Today I will not be talking about fall foliage. We have shifted gears (sails?) and have fallen in love with Mystic Seaport. The aquarium is nice; it was fun watching 3 Beluga whales at feeding time and California sea lions showing off how intelligent they are, but when you compare it to our own Monterey Aquarium...it's not a "fluke" that we're #1. But, the historical Mystic Seaport is a true treasure of an era so important in our country's development. It's much larger than I thought it would be and the grounds are lovely [View Full Entry]

Ximena washed her hair with nice boiling water while Vitto did a little provisioning at the only store on the Island, “The Market” is open from 0800 to 0900 and again at 1600 to 1700. Such is the pace of living on Cuttyhunk where the 40 year round residents are all related. At 0914 we got underway. In Buzzards Bay the wind was blowing NW 10 to 15 with gusts up to 18 Kts with seas at 2 ft. The temperature was 51º F but [View Full Entry]

Dear Family, Friends, and Fans, We have been motoring around Massachusetts (so I will finally learn how to spell it) and loving it. The leaves are still colorful but are being blown right off the trees. After enjoying our days on Cape Cod, we headed to Foxboro...hoping that someone would give us free tickets to the Pats vs. Skins game. No one took pity on the California Condor, but it is a very modern arena with no end zone seating. We couldn't get in at the campground there due to a big Halloween Todo, so we went to nearby Bellingham which [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone, We arrived at our RV Park, just west of Albuquerque, New Mexico on Mon. 10/8. After we ‘set up camp’, we drove into Albuquerque to explore. Albuquerque is HUGE! Basically most of the streets either run North & South or East & West, so it seems like it should be easy to get around….but there is so much traffic (even mid-week), if you are not in the right lane and the right time, it could be difficult to get back on track. As with any large city, best to have 1 or 2 (sometimes they differ) good street maps [View Full Entry]

Oct. 1 - We just returned to a RV Park in Bullhead City, Arizona, after a week in Las Vegas. I didn’t take many pics in Vegas because we have been there so many times……I already have TONS of them. We stayed at an RV Park in North Las Vegas. We drove our truck in everyday and left it in a downtown parking lot. Along our daily ride, we got to see a side of Vegas we have never seen. The homeless are in an area just North of Vegas. I felt uncomfortable taking pictures of them….but I took them [View Full Entry]

Hi again, While we were driving from Utah to Arizona, we called a campground within the Grand Canyon National Park, at the south rim, and we were lucky enough to be able to make a reservation for 4 nights. We arrived on 9/17/07, and basically just settled in and just drove around a little to acclimate ourselves. Much to our surprise….once you are in the park…..there are FREE shuttle buses to everywhere and anywhere you would want to go in the park. There are actually 3 shuttle bus routes which interconnect. A bus arrives every 15 min. to pick you up [View Full Entry]
