Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach
Looking straight ahead from where we were sitting at our truck!
4/4 - Tuesday Jim & I are still in the campground in Port Orange, Florida. We went to the beach at ‘Dayton Beach’ one day last week and again yesterday. It is a beautiful beach! (pics attd). The beach itself is longer than 20 miles. You can drive onto it…and drive most of the length of it. The 1st day we went, we parked outside and walked in. The ‘driving ramps’ leading to the beach have free parking available. We took the truck on yesterday. (Some folks even drive on with their motorhomes). It costs just $5.00 to take your vehicle [View Full Entry]

3/19 - Sunday Jim & I & Frank & Charlene ‘hit the road’ at 9 a.m. last Thursday (Larry & Marsha will stay in Mexico another 3 weeks). Frank & Charlene are headed to California and Jim and I, New Mexico. We would have made it to Lordsburg, New Mexico about 5:30 Thursday evening, but we ended up in a 3 hour traffic jam (caused by an accident) on I-10 just outside of Tucson, Az, so we spent the night at a little RV park in Willcox, Az. Left the first thing Friday morning for New Mexico. The route we decided [View Full Entry]

2/25 - Saturday We broke camp this morning and by 10 a.m., Frank, Charlene, Jim & I were leaving the RV park and back on the road. We arrived in Why, AZ at about 2:30 pm. We are back on desert land again and have located (and parked next to) our other friends Larry & Marsha. 2/26 - Sunday Jim & I drove out to the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument (which is just a couple of miles from where we are parked. This is the only place in the U.S. which has Organ Pipe Cactus. The Sonoran desert extends into [View Full Entry]

Excalibur Hotel Las Vegas
Excalibur Hotel Las Vegas
This is the Excalibur Hotel where we stayed in Las Vegas
2/8 - Wednesday Tomorrow is our last day in Las Vegas. We did not win our fortune in this trip (either). We stayed at the Excalibur Hotel (picture attached). Las Vegas is not what it used to be in the way of inexpensive food and rooms. While you can still find a room at a reasonable price (if you look around)…food is getting pretty expensive. We chose to eat at Harrah’s buffet (Deb, I thought of you), everyday at lunch. They still have one of the best buffets on the strip. Also popping up are a lot of little ‘strip [View Full Entry]

1/20 - Friday The RV’s are really starting to come in now. I am attaching two pictures…one that I posted before everyone started arriving and one that shows what our ‘site’ looks like right now. Tomorrow the big RV & vacation show opens (the ‘Hoopla’, as my neighbor calls it!). There are lots of vendors here now and a lot of things to buy (we bought a couple of rugs for our RV…to put on top of our carpeting, entering into the livingroom and a small one ontop of the hardwood floor in front of the kitchen sink, to keep it [View Full Entry]

Monday, 12/26/05: I am attaching a couple of pictures from Laughlin, NV from last week. I lost my $30.00 quickly, Jim lost less than me, but as usual the casinos were the winners. We had a very nice Christmas day yesterday, hope you all did as well. The day was in the mid 70’s and sunny. Seven of us got together for a ‘pot luck’. The women provided the food. Larry & Marsha live diagonally behind us and have been married for 2 years. Larry is one year older than Jim and Marsha is one year older than me. Frank [View Full Entry]

Tuesday, 12/20 We arrived at our winter destination of the Quartzsite, AZ desert, safe and sound, on 12/10. Not too much to do around here right now, and I’m not sure Jim is going to be able to handle all of this solitude. The RV show and gem show (which is part of the reason we came here) isn’t until the last week of Jan. into Feb. We have met some of our ‘neighbors’, who have been very friendly and helpful. The 3 ‘neighbors’ that we have met all know each other, and have all been coming here for years. They [View Full Entry]

Friday, 12/9 Well the past few days at the campground have been pretty good, the days have been clear and sunny and in the mid 60’s. The morning air is cool, but the sun is warm….(like when you go to the beach early in the morning). By 11 am, I am in my T-shirt & jeans. It’s really strange to look around and see some people in the pool and some people in their winter parkas! The Oleander, Lantana & Bouganvilla are in bloom and I saw some Petunias for sale outside at Lowe’s. We’ve been following a pretty rigid schedule…..wake [View Full Entry]

We started on our adventure, Sunday, 11/27 at 7:10 am. Jim is the full time driver and maps out our routes. I navigate the maps while we are driving and keep us on course (i.e., advising of any detours, road construction and re-mapping if need be), and keep track of our mileage, expenses & etc. After 2 quick ‘pit stops’ and a 20 min. lunch, we arrived at the Winchester, VA. Super Wal-Mart at 5 pm, where we spent our first night. It was pretty cold and damp…night temps were in the mid 30’s and it poured all night! Monday [View Full Entry]
