Hi everyone,
Yellowstone National Park is BEAUTIFUL!!! If you decide to visit the area you NEED at least 3 days just to see the highlights in the park. There are LOTS of great fishing areas, so bring your waders, if you fish. A couple of observations I made while visiting the park:
Apparently, there must have been a fire in Yellowstone. Jim says he thought he remembered hearing about one a couple of years ago. Anyway, the first thing we saw when we drove in was miles of dead & blackened trees. It’s gonna’ take a lot of years for that to come back!
Its funny that you can drive for miles without any cars in front or behind you….then you turn a corner and suddenly there are 50 cars in front and back……(you really need to take all those curves at a slow speed, you never know what's on the other side).
Since I’m a gardener, I noticed lots of white Yarrow, silver Artemsia, little purple Asters, bright yellow coreopsis & even a few dandelions in bloom. There are also lots of pretty white, pale yellow & bright yellow flowers all over the mountainsides, but I
couldn’t identify them.
Wildlife we saw were tons of Buffalo, some Elk, Deer, Moose, a few Eagles and I saw a Coyote as well. We searched and searched for 2 days for Grizzly bears, but never saw one. There were warning signs and we even drove through a ‘Grizzly Area’….but not a one did we find!
I have tried to pick the best sampling of pictures that I could to show you (I have so many)…..so I hope you have time to browse.
I don’t know when I will have Internet access again…..we are heading through Idaho, Utah & the Grand Canyon. I’ll post again when I can. Hope everyone is well.
Linda & Jim
p.s......sorry there are soooo many pictures...really it's only a fraction of what I have.
You may or may not notice that the photos are not in order by date....it was a big project just to get them all posted.
