Today is our drive to Boulder, Co to stay with my brother, Jimmy and his family. Ten hours of driving, but what a beautiful drive! It is a clear day and the Rockies are gorgeous! We start out trying to find some place to view the wild mustangs, but find out that the only place would require some off roading and a whole day. We don't have a day and this car, trusty as it has been, bottoms out coming out of the hotels it's so loaded! So, no wild mustangs for us. Next time we will try to catch them in Wyoming (did you catch that "next time" reference!?!)

Next best thing (and possibly even better!) is horseback riding through the Rockies! We find a place in Leadville that is not far out of our way and head on over. Leadville happens to be the highest incorporated city in the United States at an elevation of 10,152 feet! We really hit the jackpot with Mega Mountain Magic horseback riding. We pulled up and it didn't look like much, but the people were fantastic, friendly and the horses were great. We chose the hour ride since we were short on time, but the ride up through the meadow, then through the Aspens was fantastic. When we started out amid the thunder, we were a bit hesitant, but after hailing for just a couple of minutes, the weather changed and we were fine. The skies were a bit grayer than we would have liked for the views, but an very memorable experience. Our guides, Jackie and Kyle were very competent and informative. Did you know that Aspens all have a shared root system? I did not. Everyone had a super time! Now all the questions of “can we take riding lessons!!” Normal 0

The rest of the ride to Boulder was a piece of cake and we arrived around 8:00 to Jimmy and Julie's house. My brother, Dave, who lives in Denver, was there to see us as well. So very great to see everyone and Jimmy and Julie's two adorable kids, Eddie and Ryan. Freddy was in boy heaven! Ryan was asleep the first night but Eddie and Freddy hit it off right away. Of course, the half-pipe skateboard ramp in the back yard was a great ice-breaker! Thanks so much for letting us stay with you guys!
