Our first day on the road was pretty uneventful until we got to Lamesa, TX where we were going to spend the night. We were about 30 miles outside the city and the rain started coming down in buckets. We made our way to the city park where they have a FREE (Joyce Osborne would be proud) RV area. It was nice for the night since it at least has electric hook ups. We backed into our spot and it was still pouring down. Since we were in the area of Texas that has been pounded with rain over the last month, we were thinking we might have to sleep in the truck. After taking an extra day in Billings to ride the scooter (we had only towed it 4000 miles without riding it but once), it was back to driving the interstate, ready to be in Dallas now. No side trips; no sightseeing. In Cheyenne, WY, we stopped for the night at Terry Bison Ranch, a working bison ranch that also had camels and llamas, just 2 miles north of the WY/CO border. We read that the Senator's Steakhouse on the premises had the best burger in Wyoming, according to Bobby Flay and the Food Network. We decided to see if it was better than an "In and Out" Burger. After we got to the restaurant, we decided to have a steak instead. So we'll never know if it was the best burger in Wyoming. It's pretty cool ... read more

Oral Roberts University Vi er kommet videre fra en skøn tid his vennerne i Tulsa - smuttede lige forbi Oral Roberts University - et temmelig stort kristent universitet med en broget historie, som jeg skal undlade at komme videre ind på her; uagtet dog imponerende og inspirende at besøge. Med sin udprægede 80'er arkitektur lignede det et relikvium fra Østeuropa med guldagtige facader og takkede betonbjælker.... det skal nok opleves. I midten står der er bedetårn, hvorfra der bedes af mennesker hele året 24-7, ja, det vil sige lige nu var de 'relocated' af en eller anden grund, så det var lidt spøgelsesagtigt at gå rundt i det mennesketomme 'campus' en lørdag eftermiddag, hvor alle har fri fra skole. Ved indkørslen til Campus står en kæmpe skulptur af et par bedende hænder og indikerer her ... read more

. It was another cool - strike that, cold night… But again the sky was blue and there was barely a cloud to be seen. Perfect for driving, but not so perfect for sightseeing!! Today our objective is the Great Sand Dunes National Park and as many miles as we can manage towards Kechi… The house is scheduled to close on November 1 and we need to remove all the furniture we left in the house to make it more saleable.
