Jan 28th, 2011 Donna my Bride, Shane my middle Son and Jeff Carr, my Brother in Law , who retired Dec 2010 . Friday it was 67 degrees in Denver so we decided to go skiing at Keystone. It was a beautiful day , the weather was perfect and the slopes had lots of snow. We stayed on the slopes for five hours with a 30 minute break-no broken bones. There was a few falls, I would like to blame someone for my falls, but I guess I will take full blame for them. Jeff had not been on skis for about four years and he did great, a few falls, but nothing major. What a great day we had!!... read more

On June 19, 2008 I will be leaving for Lima, Peru so I figured it was time to dust off the ol' trusty travel blog and update a bit on where I've been hanging out for the last year and a half since I came back from Europe. December of 2006 I moved up to the Rocky Mountains to do some hardcore skiing before getting the 'real job' I was supposedly avoiding while in Europe. One point five years later I'm still here in Summit County doing the ski-bum thing. It's been fun living here. I've meet great people and got to ski or snowboard nearly every day in the winter. The summer and fall last year were gorgeous too! But it's time to leave here. I'm ready to travel some more and am super stoked ... read more

It was snowing in Keytstone today, Saturday. It was a great day skiing with Jon, Jennie, Sarah, and Jason who was visiting from chi town. We went all the way to the back of the mountain down the run wolverine, which borders the boundary of the mountain. Most of the run is through trees, but its not too dense, you can get some speed and still be in control. We ended up skiing out of bounds for some of the time which was nice because there were not many tracks there, lots of fresh snow. On the second time down I had gathered my confidence and was skiing well. I was going with good speed and bumped into a branch of a tree and fell, but I got up and was alright. It was a fun ... read more

Today Steve, Bret, Jon, Jennie, Damon, Courtney (Damon's younger sister), Amy, and I went ridin at Breck. The snow was pretty average. There were alot of ice patches. Jon and I both drove up. It was a great day of ridin because Jon brought up his video camera and Steve recorded us all throughout the day. It was so much fun. I even went through a small half pipe and off some jumps. It was fantastic, the video is hilarious. I ski'd without a hat, my hair was all over the place, its so long now. I havn't cut it since mid June 2005, almost 9 months, haha. Unfortunately Im gonna have to cut it if i get the internship at boeing in la over summer. School is going alright. Materials Science and Computational Methods are ... read more

Leaving Aspen, heading towards Breckenridge we were amazed by the number of ski resorts along I-70. If you live in Denver within an hour and a half maximum, you can ski Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass, Buttermilk, Beavercreek, Vail, Copper Mountain, Ski Cooper, Loveland Pass, Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe; to name a few. Breck like so many of these resorts has a massive ski-able area and can hold a huge skier capacity - 100,000 people. That’s like the total populations of the cities Leduc and Red Deer skiing the same mountain on the same day and there would still be room for a few more. Jasper’s capacity relative is about 4,400. It’s the first time that we have seen chairlifts that cross over each other like a freeway; it was a little freaky. The longest ski run here ... read more
