Day three of our honeymoon

We started out day three of our honeymoon by missing a turn in town and going the wrong way for about 10 miles before I could turn around :P oh well! Once we got back on track, we stopped at the Great Sand Dunes National Park. It took us a while to get there because we were forced to follow this Ford Festiva that was going at least 10 miles under the speed limit the whole way there! When we finally got there it was really cool! Its just this HUGE area of sand that is piled into mountains - and its all really fine sand too, very hard to walk on. And another thing that caught us off guard was the two busses of Mennonites that were also visiting the Dunes. I guess they were a progressive schism since they were in busses :P

After that we went on our way towards Durango - passing through Alamosa on our way. We stopped there for gas and gaped at this guy who was cussing and shouting and just being a jerk about having to pre-pay for gas. Where has he been?? We've been having to pre-pay for gas for what, a year now? It wasn't just us who was annoyed by him - there were several of us watching him make a fool of himself.

We continued our trip west - driving on the Wolf Creek Pass . . . BEAUTIFUL!! And very dangerously steep!

We arrived in Durango at about 4:30 this afternoon and we are heading to Colorado Springs tomorrow!
