Getting there is half the fun?

So, we're off on another trip. This time, a last minute trip to Colorado to visit friends and find some cooler temps.
As we set out for the airport, I remarked to someone that at least we wouldn't get snowed in this time. The last few trips out there have been during the winter months and usually resulted in getting stuck at the airport in one direction or another!
The only worry in the summer is the pop up thunderstorms you get in the Southeast. But things were looking great. We made it to the airport and even managed to take off almost on time. No chances to bump this time, but that's ok, we were anxious to get there since it would be such a short visit.
Sitting in front of not one, but TWO, kickers (one also a screamer), made for a not so relaxing flight. Seriously mom-with all of your nagging and the resultant screaming by the offending child, I'd rather he just kick the seat. Almost like a deep tissue massage!!
We were greeted upon our approach in Denver with an announcement by the captain that "the airport is closed, we're going to circle here for a few minutes to see what's going on."
Ummm, don't you have radio contact to get those kinds of answers?
Next announcement was even better, "looks like bad weather here. We've got enough fuel to spend a few more minutes circling." That's it...no "and, so, or butt"?
Then "we're going to Colorado Springs, it's only about a two hour drive south of Denver. Not that we're suggesting you drive. We really don't know what we're doing."
There were several more comedic announcements by our pilot, but we eventually made it to Denver after a quick stay in CS. Nothing like a six-hour plane ride detoured by a summer super cell to make you eat your words about weather delays!

Woman and Child
I spent 20 years in the Navy, joining up to see the world. I've certainly seen more than I would have otherwise, but there's acres and oceans left to explore! Being at the mercy of liberty ports, embarkation cities, and overseas duty stations has limited me to places the Navy wanted me to see. Now I get to start planning my own itinerary, and I'm taking my son with me! Enjoy the blogs!... full info

what a crazy ride
Hola chica! Quite the ride you had. Probably beats a tsunami. Bet you could use a massage and a Manny drink after that adventure! Hope you have a great time.
