Day 21: Willits, CA to Crescent City, CA

Kerry left camp early this morning in hopes of finding a new spare tire for the pop-up. There were two tire dealers in Willits, but neither one had what he needed and the second one referred him to an RV Repair shop - - well, the RV shop had two signs one saying open at 8:30 and one saying open at 9 - - he sat for about 30 minutes waiting for it to open when he noticed a sign saying closed on Monday! He wound up buying a new tire in Eureka, CA - - cost him a hundred bucks!! Sure couldn't afford to live here!!! While Kerry was gone, Gena took Milo for a walk and came running back for the camera - - there were two deer grazing in our campground . . . also several very large wild turkeys, both male and female. We drove through some magnificent red wood groves. It started raining in Eureka, so the rest of the drive was wet. It made the redwood groves sort of foggy and misty. It was really beautiful - - The ranger at the visitors center suggested taking the old 101 as an alternative to the new 101 - - GOOD SUGGESTION!! We drove right through the middle of several old growth redwood groves. What magnificent ferns were growing under the redwood canopy. Ocean was really gray looking, when we could see it, because of the rain and fog. We found a commercial campground with hookups and a WiFi hotspot - - will have to sit outside the office later tonight to publish the blogs. Hot Spot required an access code I didn't have so this entry is LATE!
