Road Trip (San Francisco) - 9 Days
We drove up to San Rafael (the other side of the San Fran Bay) to stay with a good friend of mine, Jason, and we went out drinking on the first night to celebrate his birthday, therefore didn’t do much the day after.
We used San Rafael as a base to explore the area and we spent our first non-hung over day visiting Muir woods to see some massive trees and part of the amazing California coastline. I loved walking through the woods, I felt really insignificant, humble or respectful being surrounded by ancient trees that were thousands of years old and it was a very peaceful place.
One day we drove in to the city and parked at the Fort Mason Green and from there walked to Fisherman’s Wharf for some clam chowder in a bowl made out of bread. Then we went to the famous curvy street which twisted down the hill on Lombard street and we could see great views of the city and the famous cable-cars going up and down the hills. On the way back to San Rafael we visited the Baker beach
area for a little chill.
We decided to use some vouchers Steph was given by her old work colleagues and checked in to a hotel near the China Town gate for
a couple of nights to experience the city, a little bit. The hotel was themed on wine and wineries and they had a happy hour with free wine tasting, which started the evening off, and the evening ended in the “Ox bar” where we very much enjoyed a live band. The second day we walked around China town, experienced a cheap buffet and then ate at a Garlic restaurant.
For our last day we drove back to meet Jason and spent some time at the China camp state park, then went to a BBQ in the evening. Next day we headed back to L.A., arriving after the 7 - 8 hour drive.
I really like San Francisco. It’s a cool city set on the hills allowing for great views and with the big influence from the gay world the San Francisconians seem quite liberally minded. More than that I liked the local environment with its rocky coastline, pretty beaches and

... A must for anyone visiting California For our
Last 10 Days in L.A we went to Hollywood and the Chinese theatre, we went to Beverley Hills - an area full of expensive cars and posh shops, where dad showed us the real highlights to see. There was an event in Hollywood to mark the 500th Simpsons episode - the event involved watching all of the episodes back to back with no breaks to sleep, judges checking you didn't take your eyes off the screen and all for a $10,000 award and your name in the guiness book of records for the longest consecutive TV watching session. - ONLY IN AMERICA
We also did some planning of our next trip, went for a cycle, ate some food, drank some beer – nothing that exciting really
