Bonjour le monde!
As a recent graduate, I am finding the process of job hunting rather tedious. Let's face it: the economic situation in the United States is not ideal right now. As for the icing on top of the cake, I have a degree in film/media and English.
To cut a long story short, I applied to a few teaching positions in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Does anyone know anything about the Reach to Teach recruiting program?
I interviewed with them today and I really have my heart set on going to Taiwan. I hope all goes well. I will find out in a few days and could be leaving as soon as March 20th. I don't want to get my hopes up in case something happens but I can't help obsessing.
One concern I have is in regards to my country of citizenship. I have permanent residency in the United States of America, however, I am a Malaysian citizen. I grew up in California and am a native English speaker so I hope there won't be a conflict.
I am just looking for a change of environment and what better time than now? No obligations, commitments or relationships to consider. I want to immerse myself in a completely different culture and build unexpected relationships. I want to inspire while being inspired. Please send me to Taiwan.
With an open mind and heart,
Joan
