This whole thing was written in the terminal of SFO waiting for the flight to Seoul / Incheon. It isn't all that interesting, but it is certainly representative of the kind of things that run through my mind when I'm under a lot of stress. I was listening to the Breeders' album, "Last Splash," which is an album I'd recommend to any one. Right now (June 9, 12:39 PM, Korea Time) I'm listening to the Distillers, "Sing Sing Death House," I think, sitting at a computer on a glass-topped counter in a PC-room in my hotel, smoking cigarettes and getting [View Full Entry]

It felt good to get back to the structured lifestyle of the USA after recharging our batteries in Belize. Although we didn't get out of the airport until gone midnight, we had our hire car ready and waiting for us there and we managed to find our hostel without too much trouble. My first worrying San Fran incident came very early in our stay. After checking in I had to park the car about half a mile from the hostel and walk through a dark, quiet residential estate to get back. On the walk back a large cat that looked pregnant [View Full Entry]

Here are some select photos from my going away parties. Grade A props to everyone who came out and celebrated with me. I had a great time. Special thanks to the puppy hat and to the kind ladies who posed for pictures with me despite my absymal personal hygiene, inferior rapping and dancing skills and deplorable attempts at pickup lines. Your charity, pity and merciful kindness will not be forgotten when I am RICH!!! RICH I TELL YOU! P.S. For those of you who knew about my pre-party medical purple alert, I am happy to report that everything is still working, [View Full Entry]

In less than a month I will finally be in Buenos Aires, and needless to say, I am getting more and more excited each day. Also - my funding just went through today, which means I can now start apartment shopping!!! I just bought a map of the city as well, so I'm starting to look up all the places I want to hit up while I'm there. If anybody has any ideas, please let me know - I would be SO appreciative of any recommendations, suggestions or insight on Buenos Aires since I've never been there before. I think this [View Full Entry]

After some issues in what was my current job I had to visit the "Silicon Valley" to attend some business, so this was the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful cities in the states...San franciso. San francisco known for the architecture, for being an artist refuge, chinese inmigrants, and a jewel of the "Gold fever" is an oportunity of have a good time in. For me my first contact was going from fremont (the other side of the bay south oakland) by car, trying to find and cross bay bridge (a impressive structure that cross the bay) and see [View Full Entry]

San Francisco - a city I've always wanted to visit (from watching every episode of Full House when I was younger?!!)... and it did not disappoint! A beautiful city, very pretty and green, with a beautiful harbour - I guess it reminded me of Wellington, with it's arty culture and steep hills! The beggars on the streets are something that fade away and it is 'all things bright and beautiful' that remain a lovely memory. [View Full Entry]

Arriving at Alcatraz
at Alcatraz

Three things that occurred to me over the last few days. 1. This whole people stopping to ask me for directions thing. It's because I actually notice and somehow become aware that they are lost. Blind leading the blind? 2. I was thinking of what it is that makes a man. My father is a man to me because he makes it very clear to me that he loves my mother. However it's in the subconscious actions speak louder than words kind of way. I was driving the car and mulling over this idea of how men will tell you what [View Full Entry]

So I am home. After what some may consider a long trip, and others a short one. I counted 30 passes through immigration in 12 countries on 4 continents. I had a fantastic time, but I am a bit tired of traveling (for now). I sort of got to the point where everything started blending together. I found that my incremental enjoyment for each new place was becoming quite low, and that I really wanted to have a bit more stability in my life. Once I came to this realization, I booked a ticket back to the states. Oddly enough - [View Full Entry]

Moon-lit Golden Gate
Spring time in Pt. Reyes
Same shot, oppostie direction

After arriving in San Francisco, we were shuttled to our hotel room and discovered two things - 1. That USA drivers are absolutely nuts and 2. that our hotel was in a dodgy area (lots of homeless and drug dealers). We still had a great time and saw the golden gate bridge, alcatraz, went for a walk to union square and caught the cable cars and saw how beautiful the city could be on our City Tour.
