Mon and I got married about 4 months ago. We didn't go on a honeymoon coz I was out of vacation days for 2005. So first thing in 2006, we go to San Francisco for the weekend. The past few days we have been at the Pt. Montara Lighthouse which a few miles south of San Francisco right off of Highway 1. The occasion was Lisa and Alex's wedding in addition to a concurrent New Year's eve party. There were about 50 people in attendance at the wedding with the majority staying at the hostel (the lighthouse is also a full-time hostel - not the actual lighthouse but the grounds). Maybe the best part of my trip home was going to San Fran to hang out with my cousin, Jen. It was totally awesome! It's strange this year that I don't see her as much as I did last year. Going to school in Santa Cruz, we're only an hour away from each other so she'd come and visit me, a sort of escape from the city for a bit plus some fun with my loveable crazy friends. I am all packed and ready to go. I can't believe how fast the last month has gone by, not to mention the last year! But it has come to an end, and my little adventure is about to begin. I head up North for New Years tomorrow...then leave for Hawaii on Monday...then it's off to Bangkok on the 8th. We started later than we planed. It was because of the 'sucky' (dark and cold) weather. We used public transit this time, we took BART to get to SF. When you get off Powel Street station, you can just walk to hop on the Cable Car. Of course like any other tourist attraction, there's a queue to purchase ticket and there's even a longer queue to get on the Cable Car. We took the Cable Car all the way to Fisherman Warf. So I decided to drive to San Francisco instead of taking the public transit on a Friday. My brother and I never been to Alcatraz even though we've been in the bay area for a while. After a 5 hour flight with less than 12 inches of leg room, people begin to have fantasies of a better place. That place is the west coast of the United States. Marce and I have just arrived and already it feels like a perfect fit. We picked up our trusty steed, Aveo, and took off toward downtown San Francisco, where we immediately proceeded to get lost. Apparently GPS only works when you give it the right street names - and in case anyone is interested, Polk St. and Post St. are in fact, two very different arteries through The City. Our day began with Eddie the Filipino breakfast man. After coming to the discouraging realization that breakfast hour was not forthcoming on our floor, the Boy and the Girl ventured to higher levels in search of coffee and OJ. Fortunately, we came across Eddie. Just a quick update here to put up some pics of the last few weeks. Not much new lately besides work work and more work. Thanksgiving two weekends ago and a great break and home with the family. Now it's Saturday night tonight and another 10 days or so until home back to Canada for Christmas. It's been about five straight months of work since my summer holiday back home with the fam, so I'm must about do a break for two weeks for the holidays.
