Eileen paved the way for us to enter the USA by chatting up the immigration officer whose surname was Pollok!
Our arrival in San Francisco was enhanced by meeting up with an old Edinburgh friend, Jim Cowan, who took us to one of SF's iconic landmarks - the Cliffhouse - on the edge of the Pacific for a fantastic seafood dinner.
The America's Cup trials happens to be on this week so lots of buzz and activity at the waterside.
Walked miles, ate mussels at Fishermans Warf, trolleybus and Union Square. More tomorrow .........

I was in Union Square yesterday as well, although that was in Aberdeen which isn\'t quite the same. Mum, I hope you took lots of photos of the America\'s Cup Yachts. Enviously Yours, Grant
