Ok...here are some lessons I have learned so far:

-Read the damn brochure fully and then read it again. Don't just look at the maps and think have it figured out ...lol.

-Don't have to have manic days every day! Over-did it yesterday so decided to have a calmer, more relaxed plan today and it worked. Had more fun and enjoyed myself more for it.

So, what did I get up to today? First, slept in until I woke up naturally - then went back to sleep. So there! Ahhh.... (even used the 'please don't disturb' door knob sign...I know...rebellious...right?)

Decided to go on another loop of the on/off bus tour (as had ticket for 48 hours) but ended up waiting at wrong stop (hence, read the brochure comment). Anyway, asked around and found right place and made it to the Golden Gate Park. Had a lovely time in a Japanese Garden which, despite quite a few people, was relaxing and tranquil.

Had lunch in the park. Sorry, kids didn't go for either a pretzel or a hot dog...had a small lamb curry instead then sat and 'people watched' and read for a little while. Lovely.

Saw the 'painted ladies' on way back (Victorian houses) which were lovely but well out of my price range. Went through the Hippy 'burb then back to Union Square and browsed in a few shops -even bought something in Macy's.

Realised was 'geographically challenged' on way back to hotel. Was a bit confident (aka cocky even) as thought I knew the way and just blindly headed off but once saw the massive hill I was about to have to walk up...realised didn't have a clue where I was - just that it wasn't right....lol. Didn't panic. Turned around and managed to orient myself fairly quickly (so once again am feeling a bit cocky...lol).

So, a gentle enjoyable day and off to dinner tonight...not sure where yet.
