SAN FRANCISCO!
The city that accepts you as you are, however you are.
It is unique, mystic, romantic, friendly, crazy, hippy, junky, geeky, sporty, happy, magical & of all, lively. I've never seen a sleepy day in this city.
Being Ganesh's birthday, we planned to take a day off from packing & ventured out into the city. This was probably our last trip to the city for a long long time. I don't like to say never. 😊
We walked some parts of the city where we'd never walked before. And the walk itself was different. Usually, when we are in this big city, we have this rush to see it all. We saw it all(all we could in one day), but with so much enjoyment & contentment. This city has it all. I love San Francisco. I felt so much in love that I 'almost' bought an "I love SF" magnet. 😱
There was the SF marathon happening today & all(I mean ALL) parking lots were full. Free lots, outdoor spaces as well as expensive lots did not have ONE parking space. That was when we decided to get to the other side
of the city to Golden Gate park.
The Dutch windmill & the small tulip garden was a must visit. We also spent some time in Ocean beach.
S was running around the garden, socializing with other babies, kids, dogs, tulips, leaves, benches, you name it.
S fell asleep at
Alamo square & so we took turns to just be there. Personally, I loved this place so much. The view from the top of the hill in the park gives magnificent views of the city.
When we finally came back to Ghirardelli square, we found a free spot & comfortably started walking around. We stopped by
Ghirardelli chocolate company to have a butterscotch sundae. We always leave with a "ewww, too sweet" feeling, but we keep going back😊
Ganesh has been in bay area for 10 years now & I've been for 6. It would be a shame if we left the city without stepping on a cable car. We boarded the historic cable car from Hyde Street pier. With S, we could not be out standing, but since it was Ganesh's day, I let him enjoy being out & feeling the air. The weather was
surprisingly warm for this time of year with lots of sunshine(or maybe not...Some of the clearest & sunniest days are in the winter here). We took a short walk from the Powell station to the Yerba Buena Gardens where we all enjoyed a carousel ride. We hanged around near the waterfalls & the lawn area for a while.
After a short wait at the parking lot & a shorter stop at the top of the
coit tower, we came back to the semi-clogged streets of Embarcadero. Somehow, I did not mind the clog. It gave me some more time to be in the city.
I have seen a lot of San Francisco. But I have not seen it all. I can never see it all. So, I just put myself to rest.
I feel nostalgic. I have no words. I just love San Fransisco. And I can probably never love any other city quite like this.
