Hey everyone
We are already home in Calgary but thought I would write one more log for our weekend in SF. Did some touristy things, but first things first, went to the North Face outlet in Berkely (took the light rail then a bus) but unfortunately they were weak in the clearance dept. However I bought some quick dry shirts for cheap for working out and hiking. Went to the Royal Robbins outlet and bought some clothes there, but no cheap down jackets anywhere to be seen.... Diane, I'm sure that we went by your old house (was it 1825, on the bus route??) Great memories from my last visit, but we took it easy. We were so tired after being awake essentially 24 hours that we fell asleep on the train back, had a nap, got up for dinner then went back to bed. We didn't wake up until 11:30 the next morning which didn't leave us much time to do too much but we made the most of it.
We walked by the North Face store in downtown San Fran and went in and I found a really cheap backpack - the one I have been using for backcountry camping is not good. It's baby blue, unfortunately but I"m not complaining, it's a women's pack and it fits well.
San Francisco is a beautiful city. We rode the cable car, took a ferry to Sausalito and a bus back over the golden gate bridge. We watched the Sea Lions from the pier (lots of them - 660 that day) and went to Chinatown. It was weird seeing all the stuff we saw in Vietnam and Thailand for sale in SF. We were disappointed that it wasn't an authentic experience - no dogs with mange, no liquids dripping on our heads from above, no touting or meat on a stick for sale, so unlike Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh... but it was very cool as Chinatown was gearing up for Chinese New Year.
Saw some things we bought for 10x what we paid for, which made me feel good, of course.
Thanks everyone for keeping us company on our trip and following us, and for anyone else going on a trip (to anywhere) remember this site, it is quite easy to use! Ken is going to post some pics, hopefully they will be up by the time you read this!
Now back to work... ;-(

You recognized the next door house - my house was 1813,
yup, the bus would drive right by!
A few years back you could still buy live chickens in SF Chinatown, but there was a big uproar over it, so that was halted.
Welcome back to the north. We're finally getting some good snow!
