from pier 40 We had an interesting start to today with Fiona frightening the life out of some poor wee Indian dude she walked in on in the toilet, to be fair I think she got the biggest scare, the whole floor was woken up by their united screaming, I was laughing to myself in bed, she came running back into the room with her arms waving, you had to see it......
The story goes that she just walked into the open toilet and the light was off, this wee chap jumped up from the pan waving his arms about, Fiona stood there screaming waving her arms about too. I wished I'd seen it......
It was battering down with rain all day, we done some washing in the morning then went for breakfast, I got chatting to some Aussie boy called Matt, he was a belter, we spoke to him for the sum total of 4 minutes and he had offered us a job on his dairy farm in Victoria and he was going to put us up for as long as we wanted, he was a nice guy but we sensed that he wasn't all there if you know what I

at Pier 39 mean. Our inital observations were proved right when he gave me his e-mail and I said we'd be in touch in 3 months when we're in Australia, "cool" he says, "I'll be home in June, it's March now right so in 3 months it'll be June?" Okay then, see you in June Matt.
We went out for lunch and beers a little later to some bar around the corner, we got chatting to a couple next to us in the bar from Kansas City, they thought we were royalty and were convinced that Ireland and Scotland were the same place. "Have you guys seen Braveheart?" Once or twice we said, "Well you should go this Irish Bar in town where you can eat porridge like in Braveheart". OK, time to move on, before we went though he invited us to his condo in the Financial District to drink more beer, we made our excuses and left. It was real cold and still raining heavy so we headed back to the hostel to warm up, I made up some card game so Fiona could play along and she ended up beating me at my own game, I still can't work out how that happened, she must have been cheating!!
Quiet night tonight, we braved the rain to go to an Italian around the corner, Fiona loves to point out that I still haven't mastered the art of crossing the road US style yet, she's had to pull me back a couple of times as I make a dash for it while looking the wrong way, I just can't comprehend how they can drive through red lights and cross walkways when the green (well white here) man is showing?
Ended the night with a wander round the block and a hot chocolate in some weird Japanese/Italian place that played Britney Spears videos, not that I was complaining, it was just bizarre.
