After leaving Seattle, I fell in love with Portland. A lovely relaxed town with beatiful buildings & lots of parks. It is also a great place for food, including the famous Voodoo doughnuts and the numerous food carts. Needless to say that I sampled both & they were equally delicious. I also had a pumpkin pie waffle for breakfast & sampled American style diner french toast. I have been spoilt on the culinary front.
In addition to eating, I also spent my time strolling around the fascinating streets of Portland & listened to a local band playing in the park. I stayed in a fabulous hostel, within walking distance of downtown & saw Hocus Pocus for the first time in years. Great fun & plenty of adult humour.
I took a relaxing trip down to San Fran on the train. Lots of leg room, beautiful views & a viewing carriage where you can sip a glass of wine before trying to find a comfortable position in which to sleep. Now I have 1 day left before leaving for New Zealand & I spent today in the sunshine & enjoying the stunning views of the golden gate. A lovely end to this part of the trip.
