We went to Starbucks for a coffee and tea, and had a quick walk around before catching a tram to the Ferry Terminal. We had decided earlier to catch a ferry to Sausalito, for lunch. The trip over was great, going past Alcatraz and seeing seals in the bay. At Sausalito we walked around the shops, and many tourists hired bicycles and were walking around in the sun.
Most of the restaurants had no outdoor eating areas, but we eventually found a fish and chip shop with tables on the sidewalk. Jeff ordered our lunch while I went to a wine shop and bought a Sauvignon Blanc from the Napa Valley. We enjoyed our lunch, and later caught the ferry back to San Francisco, and then transferred to the train to Berkeley, on the other side of the bay area. This is the location of a large university, and seemed to be a bustling little center of activity with lots of people around.
We caught the "BART” back to San Francisco, and walked to the hotel. We decided on an Indian Restaurant called Bombay House for dinner tonight, as we both felt the need for
something spicy after lots of fairly bland American food. We chose a banquet that came with a half carafe of red wine, and for only $45 it was good value, and very filling. We then went to Safeway for some food to take home, Jeff can’t leave without his Uncle Ben’s Wild Rice! And later we caught a Streetcar back to the Westin.

Our last day in America, after a light meal in our room we headed to Castro. Pottery and Barn have a store, hoping to find something for Jeffrey's Birthday. This store is smaller than the one we have visited in Santa Monica, as did not have the range we expected.
After walking around this famous area of San Francisco, we caught a tramcar back to the city centre. Catching up on a few lastminute bargains, later we walked to Taylor St to the Mark Twain Hotel . This is where Paul stayed on his last visitmany years ago, the old birdcage lift is gone and the bar at the front has been moved to the back. Paul could point out many of the things that where here then. He felt in

Crate and Barrel had a store nearby, it left Pottery Barn for dead. There was so much there, a great store
