I landed on Monday and the flight was pretty good. The views of Greenland from the plane were stunning.
Kerry meet me at the airport on Monday and as there was no fog Kerry took me into the mountains to see views of the city and the Golden Gate bridge. We then drove around town for a bit before she dropped me at the hostel. The 8 hours time difference was a bit of a killer but I did manage to stay up until 10pm so 6am our time.
Yesterday Kerry and I drove north of SF to Muir Beach and Stinson Beach. How cool to be walking on the beach and in the sea in the middle of Jan. It is 25 degrees here and lovely sunshine so I am now a little red faced, but the sea is freezing and after 5 minutes you feel your feet going numb.
Kerry dropped me at Fishermans Wharf at lunchtime so that I have could have the famous SF Clam Chowder in a big fancy bread roll. I wandered around Fishermans Wharf and saw the sea lions. However Fishermans Wharf is a little strange and touristy and could be viewed as a fancier version of Blackpool! I got nabbed by a palm reader as apparently I have a warm auror! Oh dear.
Last night I went to ChinaTown for dinner with Sarah, who is an Ausi who has the pleasure of sleeping in the bunk under mine. I don't think I have slept on the top bunk since primary school trips to Stibbington and Paris. Dinner was an experience as we had all you could eat for $5.99. I was not too sure what I was eating at times and the ladies behind the counter obviously thought we needed fattening up as they could not just one of something on our plates. It very chinesse chinesse rather than UK chinesse so lots of weird looking fish and stuff. They gave us some parcelled up pinky red stuff which tasted good but worryingly we could not work out whether it was fruit or meat. They did give us some cookies to take away so I do have snacks for tofay - I really am getting into this Budget travelling.
My hostel is pretty clean and good. Put it this way the shower is better than playing hockey at Wis but really that is not too difficult is it! No it is really clean and better than 90% of the places we end up showering after hockey.
Hopefully next time I blog I will put some pictures up.
Bye for now.
Tracy
