The SAFE SPEAKER
Where should I keep my passport?
Often travelers are concerned as where to put their passports. When going out at night in a new city, it's best to keep your passport in the hotels (some larger ones have safes.) Keep some form of I.D. on you, though. If you decide to keep your passport with you, I recommend you buy a money belt. Then keep it on! The one and only time I took it off- in the bathroom in England -I somehow forgot to put it back on! However luck was with me that day. Four hours later it was still there-with all my money and passport still in it-untouched!
Another technique regarding your cash. Don't put your cash in a wallet as a thief can easily see the shape of the wallet in your pants. Decide how much you think you'll need for the evening, then take that. If you have too much money with you-it's easy to spend!
Final tip to out think the thieves- get several single one dollar bills (currency of the country) and one large bill (like a $10 or $20.) Now get a rubber band. Wrap them it with a rubber band so you can see the larger bill from the outside. Put this in separate pocket from your night cash. If confronted by a mugger, take out the rubber band cash slowly then throw it away from you-then run the other direction! The thief will think he got all your money when in reality, you tricked him. More hints next time.
