Time to dust off the old travel blog and write. Why? Because I'm going somewhere. Where? Well, London. Where else? Not sure. Why? Keep reading.
STA travel is a student/youth travel agency who helped Ian and myself tremendously last summer when we booked our backpacking trip. Leslie, our travel agent, helped recommend hostels, rail passes, places to visit, and more. We still feel guilty about not ever getting around to sending her a postcard of thanks. Oops. :(
Anyways, since STA was so great, I became a "fan" of their facebook page. For any facebook illiterate people out there, (PS: Do facebook illiterate people even exist anymore?!) this means I get updates every time STA travel puts out an announcement. Lately they've been doing contests every couple weeks or so. Some are random drawings & some involve skill and creativity. I've been entering the contests every time, just more or less for something fun to do. Many of the contests involve photography, so you know I'm there.
Well they had a contest a little while ago for a free round trip ticket to London on Virgin Atlantic (BTW one of the nicest airlines ever). A random sweepstakes drawing contest. Can you tell where this is going? ;)
For any of you who have ever emailed me or chatted online with me or viewed pretty much any social networking site I was a part of prior to 2007 (when I started being slightly more professional), you'll know my screenname that has been a big part of my life since the ninth grade is stahrdust3. I'm a fan of stars (hence the tattoo), 3 is my lucky number, and the "h" is because stardust3 was taken.
Now it's time. Please click on the link below to view the video. Or skip ahead 3 lines and save your time.

So yes. YAY. I won. Party & dance for me, minions!
...and then stop partying. Stop dancing. Realize it's only ONE ticket. I'm not a fan of traveling alone. And I have a boyfriend. What do I doooo?!
We're currently trying to figure it out. We refuse to take out a loan or use credit or anything like that so DON'T WORRY. We're saving. Frantically. The trip must be booked by June 30, 2009 and must be FINISHED by March 10, 2010.
Do I pass up on a free ticket on an airline I've been wanting to fly on?? Orrrr should we just go to London? Save up enough for Ian's plane ticket and fly a million miles to London? Maybe, but we're kinda over London to be bluntly honest. We both have spent a significant amount of time there AND it's extremely expensive. Why spend extra money to go to a city we're not really interested in spending more time in?
Yes, yes, I hear you yelling at your monitor. We're not complaining, by any means. A free ticket to London is amazing. But to us...merely a gateway.
Keep posted. We have some exciting plans in the works and I'll let you know if they work out. :)
