Andy & Lou!!I want that one!
I thought you didn't like the sun?
Yeah, I know
(Apologises if you don't watch Little Britain!)
Finally getting into a decent nights routine for sleeping, Up at 07:30 today.
Got ready and arrived at San Diego Zoo at 10:30. My mum has a few aches and pains on her back and knee from the rides at Disneyland so we convinced her to hire a wheelchair for the zoo as it is quite hilly and she has been hobbling since we left LA. We all took turns pushing her, To be honest I think I managed all of about 5 minutes! Nige broke out in a sweat every session he had, and other than nearly throwing her out of it trying to get up a curb, Joe took it in his stride.
We wandered round the zoo, seeing - Loads of birds, Polar bears, Pandas, Kangaroos, Reptiles etc, and then passed a 'Footsie Wootsie'... (That is actually what it's called) Its not an endangered animal or anything its a machine foot massager! So Nige and Joe took a quick break from wheelchair duties and had it done, problem was they couldn't walk properly afterwards - So there was me with those 2 and their odd walks attempting to push my mum normally............ I just attached myself
Bless.Don't she look all fed up?
to the group in front before we all got chucked in an enclosure!!
We then see the monkeys, bats, camals and hippos before taking the skyline ride back down, About a quarter of the way down, we noticed the weight limit - After some calculations realised we was actually 40lbs over it, I have no idea what it would have done but we just held on tightly for the rest of the journey! It was then on to the Galapogas Tortoises, Elephants, Giraffes and Koalas.
We left the Zoo and drove to Seaport Village - An area full of shops, bars and restaurants - It was really nice, We had a drink and snack, then had a slow stroll around for the rest of the afternoon - They even had a christmas shop here! And I did buy something! We got ourselves a jungle jerry (as my mum would call it) but to us a Ben & Jerrys ice cream and then returned to our hotel and the bar to relax by the pool before heading out for dinner. We chose a restaurant nearby called The Red Lobster, wasn't sure what to expect really, but it was really
ArrgggghhhWell it doesn't look that way - But we couldn't wait to get off!
nice. Nige and Joe had lobster and scallops, I just opted for salmon and my mum had fish cakes - Taking most of it away with her.
We went back to the hotel for another quick drink by the pool before heading for the land of nod....
Naughty HipposYou don't want to know what these two were up to just before this pic was taken!
Spud anyone?Oh sorry - I thought they were freshly baked spuds - Nige thought the elephants were shit!!!
