The best 2 days yet in San Diego, we caught the bus the Ocean Beach. It's about a 40 minute bus ride from the hostel where you encounter some more weird people, what is it with weird people on buses in this country! We got to the beach and found a nice patch. Settled down and chilled and before long all I could hear was Nicole snoring her little head off, northern birds!!!! After an hour or so me and Jake hit the sea, the waves were awesome, so powerful and we did plenty of body surfing before realising that it [View Full Entry]

We have just spent three days having lazy and a relaxing time in San Diego without the car and back to the joys of public transport. I hate buses. We arrived in the afternoon and settled into our hostel by the beach. It was lucky we packed the car up the previously night as the whole return car process was very quick. The only problem was we didn’t pack our bags very well, we had trouble carrying them as we hadn’t done so for five weeks. But once we got settled in San Diego we went exploring our local area of [View Full Entry]

Here in San Diego, people are a lot nicer than in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is a massive hole. I don't know why Americans think it's the place to make a dream come true, because 99% of the place is a slum. Beverly Hills is nice, and Hollywood is ok. Downtown had nothing happening when we went there at 5 in the afternoon. We were staying in Santa Monica, which I'm guessing is chockers in Summer because it's very close to Venice Beach, but was quiet while we were there. Of course our first two meals of the trip were at [View Full Entry]

JustinoThe past few weeks have been a haze of getting our house project as far as we can, packing up, moving into a rental in Dog Beach, and getting work under control. In 3 days I leave San Diego for DC and then I will meet Heidi, Zack, and Alec in San Francisco on December 11th to start our 6 month adventure. The beginning of our itinerary is the only part that is set. San Francisco-Newark-London-Newark-Beijing. We'll be in China before the new year. [View Full Entry]

Second stop: San Diego Dodgy rating: 4/10 Crazy Count: 10 + Fun Rating: 8/10 - Raving Fun We begin the day in style, breakfasting (does water count?) with Caths media mates at the prestigious LA Roosavelt, the place to be seen apparently if you're an LA darling. Word on the street has it Sir Richard Branson is gracing the premises also so as we waltz round the plush corridors and out to the pool area, quite out of place in our traveler’s rags, we glance round hoping to catch a glimpse of the big man. Surprisingly, Sir B chooses not to [View Full Entry]

Southern California: 1st September 2008 Our first stop back in the States was San Diego, just a short tram ride from the Mexican border. We had booked a hostel in the centre of town for three nights which was right next to the Gas Light district where all the restaurants and bars are. Although San Diego is quite a large city, it never seemed too busy and it was easy to get around. While there we visited the attractions at Ocean Beach, a laidback surfer hangout with lots of bars and surf shops. We also spent a whole day at the [View Full Entry]
