Surfing U.S.A!!

9 days in the land of dreams...

San Diego, CA

We landed in LAX..tired and stressed out! Customs was a breeze for Oscar...Stu looked shifty and got the 3rd degree from the LAPD! We headed straight for the union train station and caught the 4.10pm to San Diego.

When we arrived at San Diego Santa Fe depot, it was dark and we were dazed and confused..we hadn't slept in 48hrs :( We called the first hostel we saw advertised..Ocean Beach International Hostel (No Americans allowed..bonus! :p). The hostel had a really nice atmosphere and everyone was friendly. We chatted to two cool Aussie lads..Levi and Guerry, we all headed to the beach for the hostels nightly event, tonight was the bonfire! In the liqour store we purchased a large bottle of Jagermeister and some red bull for the beach..yum! That got us buzzing..we introduced ourselves to everyone!

During our time in Ocean Beach (6 nights) we;

* Went surfing..injured ourselves!
* Went on pub crawls to the local bars
* Went shopping in the Mission Valley area
* Went to a house party in OB
* Had numerous Hodads burgers!! :s The best burgers by far..EVER!
* Went to Mexico and had a Corona and burrito!!

On our last two nights we went to a festival in downtown San Diego..STREET SCENE!! The Hives, Foals and Justice were awsome..Tegan and Sara were below par :p The festival was located on a few streets and was only $100 (50 quid)!! AMAZINGLY..we bumped into Hilal..a really nice girl we'd met on a boat in Thailand, on the way to Koh Phi Phi!! She took us around San Diegos nightspots including Point Loma and Santanas Mexican eatery!



Hollwood..Los Angeles, CA

For our last two nights we had decided to stay in LA..an experience to be had! We got the train again..it took 4hrs this time due to a person jumping in front of the train in front! We caught the Metro and arrived in Hollywood, we had no idea where we were or where to stay..it was 8pm on a Sunday night and a shady looking area..

Luckily we found a phone booth with a yellow pages..we looked up 'hostels' and found the 'Orange Drive' Hostel..amazingly it was on Orange Drive! We had our own room for the first night..only $62. We were tired so got an early night, after stuffing ourselves with a Rockets burger..it was HUGE!!

On the second day we met up again with Hilal..organised properly this time! We went on a hike to the hollywood sign, this was a huge trek and we only got within 2 miles of it...but it was good fun! We went shopping in Ross discount store..stu bought 3 brown tops, oscar bought a razor and a belt! :s

Just before Hilal left for Santa Barbera we went for a drink in Hooters..and then for an amazing in-and-out burger :) NICE!

So this is the end of our trip..our plane leaves at 3pm today..4 hours away! :'( We will miss the travelling experience we've had..its been AMAZING! Looking forward to seeing everyone back home...here we come!!!
