Alyssa and Neal's East Africa Trip!
COUNTDOWN:
Here is what our current itinerary looks like:
May 13: Fly from Sacramento, CA to Hartford, CT. Stay at hotel there overnight.
May 14: Take Greyhound bus from Hartford to New York City, and then take a shuttle to JFK. We fly out at 8:05pm on British Airways flight 0116 to London.
May 15: Arrive in London at 8:10 am. Get on flight to Nairobi leaving at 10:20am. Arrive in Nairobi at 8:55pm. Taxi to six-eighty hotel.
May 16: Explore Nairobi and meet with Lena (the woman who's children's home we are going to stay at in Kisii)
May 17: Explore Nairobi. Eat at Carnivore Restaurant.
May 18: Check out of hotel. Take premium matatu to Kisii (5-6 hours). Once in Kisii, meet with people from Children's Home and drive an hour up into the Kisii highlands. Arrive at WWOOF farm!
May 19-June 9: Help out at Children's Home.
June 10: Take bus from Kisii across border to Tanzania. Arrive in Arusha and find a hotel.
June 11: Explore Arusha
June 12-17: Perhaps go on safari or day trips.
June 18: Take a Scandinavia bus from Arusha to Tanga on the coast. Arrive at the Inn by the Sea in Tanga. Celebrate Neal's Birthday!
June 19: explore Tanga
June 20: Day trip to Amboni Caves and Galanos Hot Springs
June 21: explore Tanga
June 22: Day trip to Toten Island
June 23: Explore around Tanga
June 24: Explore around Tanga
June 25:Take Scandinavia bus to Dar es Salaam (6 hours). Arrive at 6pm. Check into the Jambo Inn.
June 26: Explore Dar Es Salaam
June 27: Check out of hotel. Take boat ride to Zanzibar. Arrive at 3:30pm in Stone Town. Check into Jambo Guesthouse.
June 28: Take swahilli lessons at the Taasisi KiSwahilli Institute in Stone Town.
June 29: Spice Tour (5 hours).
June 30: Prison Island Day Trip
July 1: Explore!
July 2: Explore!
July 3: Explore!
July 4: Depart Zanzibar at 8am and arrive in Dar es Salaam at 9:30am
July 5-13: (maybe) Stay at Lanoche Orphans and Youth Camp in Kibaha.
July 14: Take bus back to Dar. Find a hotel.
July 15: Take taxi to airport. Fly out on Qatar Airlines at 2:10pm and arrive in Qatar at 7:45pm.
July 16: Depart Doha, Qatar at 8:10am and arrive at JFK at 3:00pm.

I checked it out, like you asked me too. This trip sounds exciting, holy cow. I thought you were going to work for like most of the summer, but it's only 20 days, eh? You guys will be doing a lot of shit. Enjoy the carnivore restaurant. BUt isn't Alyssa vegeterian? this will create conflict. Yessir. I hope to see you guys when you come back. Anyways this is cool. I like the picture, although I can tell you're not really in space. I'm not a dufus, you know. Ok, it's time to get the cake out the oven and poke it, so it will be ready to eat.
