Not sure if I mentioned, but I came back to America.
I figured the best way to escape the freezing temperatures and icy roads of good old new hampshire was to head off to sunny california for a med school interview. I thought a rather academic way of debriefing my trip would be to clear up some misconceptions that are held about this state.
1. California is not as nice as New Hampshire.
MYTH: california is in fact much nicer than NH, there are more palm trees, more sunny days, and more happy people.
2.
I can't actually think of any more. Either way it was a great week, had my first solo couch surfing experience and stayed with two wonderful hosts, anthony and mike. Anthony showed me the beautiful mountains and all the plants and trees along the way (he is a botanist), in-n-out, california ice cream, cacti, chinese broccoli, and yoga.
The interview will not be mentioned again unless I am accepted at the school.
After a few days in Pomona I took a train (<3) to LA to check out the 'scene'. Met up with an old high school friend and
saw the beach in winter, taco trucks, a drag show, homeless people playing golf, california sushi, the imaginarium movie (very weird), really muscley dudes at the hollywood golds gym, the tar pits, the UCLA campus, and ooh perez hilton, who is apparently famous.
Side note: the squirrels in LA are very tame, played that game with a few where you get closer and closer to each other until someone chickens out. I lost both times.
My advice to all of you: if you are in a cold place, move to california. or get a winter house. next week I will be checking out florida to see if it is up to my standards. Hope all is well.
